Victory must surely be under a lot of cap pressure, so not sure they could really offer much of a pay raise. He could make a lot more here.

if victory are under salary cap pressure wouldn't they just ask the FFA to add another marquee spot?

Doubt he'll come back. Likes the city too much. Always see him around the CBD with his hoodlum mates.

6 days since a post but I guess that's understandable with those cods at the FFA.

Here's hoping to many more posts in this thread.

Well one of the complaints or "metrics" seems to be our lack of ambition on marquees. So if that is a point that we are going to concede, then lets speculate on what sort of marquee Welnix will go for...

If they were to go for a "marquee" type player, I would expect someone who is still in their 20's. Therefore it would be someone well-known or has been at a big club, but not a massive name. A poor-man's Giovinco, if you will.

You know we belong together...

Actually, it's quite nice that all the whining about "not a striker" and "no CB cover" has stopped for five seconds. :D

not a marquee

Some bozo was saying on Twitter that all we need is a marquee to get crouds and TV ratings. I argued that if Ifill and Bonevacia can't pack the seats, some superannuated Eurotrash won't do it. Robbie Fowler didn't save the Furries.

The only marquee that has been arguably worth the money is Del Piero. And even that is debatable.

There are maybe 3 or 4 players in the world with the pull of an ADP, and none of them are ever coming here. The idea of marquees helping anything is a fallacy.
