I guess Ernie is trying the Fox Rossi CB combo ready for if Dura rejoins AWs, as suggested by Piney on the latest pod.

Hopefully someone went to the game and can give us a detailed summary... but pleasing to be winning in pre season and not conceding too many.

Jacob Tratt is a CB that can play RB, he was contracted with Sydney FC last season

Shayne D'Cunha is another CB that can play RB, previously at WSW last season.

Another round of Right Back Idol, who will win this year? Will they go on and become professional players? Or, like so many other Idols, will they fade into obscurity? Find out soon!

Lol - love it. RB idol. If you can sing you give me fever you are in. Or Big Country just for Ernie. Another preseason win and a clean sheet. COYN!

So we've beaten City and Mariners. I don't know about anyone else but I'm starting to get fired up!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Was at the game yesterday and these are my thoughts for what they're worth. Some thoughts from yesterday Rossi quality Parkhouse looked good at leftback and could be a solution there. A-Rod and Ridenton solid in the midfield. Finkler and Roly were solid and creative.  Watson got into some great positions out wide. Roy was Roy. Based on yesterday Mcclinchy will struggle to get a start. Out of the trailists Ryan Lowry was the best on show and maybe provide defensive cover. Mossy didn't have much to do in the 45 minutes he was on and Mambo was the same as well.

Who is in for Nelly?

If Parkhouse is a genuine LB option, do we think Doyle could cover RB?

Permalink Permalink

either him or Fox. Doyle was going in for some full blooded challenges when he came on. Also I liked the look of Ryan Lowry as well.

Haven't beaten the Seamen yet, we're 1-0 up on aggregate with the home leg to play ;)

Tatt has been signed... how did he look?

He did okay yesterday. Has pace and height. Like I've said earlier I'd sign Lowry as well but that's just my humble opinion.

Ahead of Saturday's Mike Pero Battle of Trafalgar II - the team's first appearance in Nelson - the Phoenix are holding a captain's run at Trafalgar Park on Friday afternoon which will be open to the public.

Gates open at 3.30pm with the light training session beginning at 4pm.

At the conclusion of the hour-long session players will be available to meet and sign autographs with fans.

So not great news for promoters with only 2,800 tickets been sold. People arguing that it is too expensive.

Hoping its a sunny day and they get a good walk up crowd, be a shame not to have a good turn out.

Of course Aldo Miccio is going to defend his own pricing, he's one of the most self-involved people I've had the displeasure of dealing with.

He's forced through some good football development in the region, including pushing for the Nelson Falcons and (I think) being heavily involved with setting up FC Nelson but jesus the man is a cod.

I've heard that about him. Have never met him but in his defence I will say that sometimes in this country anyone who actually does things is automatically labelled a cod because in order to get anything done you sometimes have to ignore the contrary opinions of people who say nay.

As you say, his record for being involved in positive outcomes is fairly strong from what little I know of the man.

Game day. Good luck Nelson with weather and a big Westpac type walk up crowd. Good luck Phoenix with the starting XI. Should be a good indicator of how we will go at home against similar opposition.

As you say, his record for being involved in positive outcomes is fairly strong from what little I know of the man.

My main qualm with him was that he nearly got the Falcons Youth League title revoked because he wouldn't/couldn't pony up the entry fee. Nelson Bays Football had to step in and take over running them the next season.

On one hand, you could argue that he's responsible for Nelson having a SSP team because he pushed for a youth team so hard but on the other hand you can argue that we have a team in spite of him. I see both points of view but in my personal dealings I didn't like him and he was a fairly awful mayor for Nelson (from what I've heard, I was too young to take any interest in local body politics at the time).

I hope Nelson has put on a stunner and the games are entertaining.  Wish I could be there, but I'm sitting in the office studying.

Lowry playing a second trial game? Nice to see Tratt start.

Guess we are looking for a back up LB for Doyle, rather than play Parkhouse out of position every time Doyle is away with the AWs. The SydNix guys thought Lowry was the best trialist out of the 3 that played last weekend.
