Was a good knock out. Pretty impressed with capital select. Was really a second string nix team. Only really paracki and Galloway would be in the first 11.

Disagree.

Italiano, Mullen, Galloway, Paracki, Finkler and maybe Abbas all in starting XI for me.

I was particularly impressed by Paracki. We may have the best Goran in the league.

This Australian tour is going to be interesting. Espeacially as Newcastle was putting 15 goals past amateur teams which I assume are of similar quality.

Sounds like Watto is putting his hand up for the new coaches

Where does Mullen make the 1st XI? Alongside Rossi?

Italiano didnt play. Contrary of nix tweets. All the players you have names are definitely potential starters but with a fully fit squad I'd only pick paracki and Galloway. Would still start Doyle over abbas, at this stage Durante over Mullen, finkler to the bench.

For some reason Galloway didn't impress me at all..but Paracki did.  Also thought Abbas played well and could start.  Both he and Parkhouse were getting good yelling at from coaches in first half.

Any highlights of the game / goals. Sounds like Watson had a couple nice ones.

We were a bit late arriving, so allowing for that, my impressions, for what they're worth:

Paracki and Abbas looked good.  Paracki just looked like a pro at ease doing his job; right place, right time, right pass.  Somewhat in the the same way Rossi tends to make it look easy, but maybe that's slightly too high a praise.

Abbas looked full of intent and like he wanted to impress. Seems to have fairly good pace.  Didn't get enough time watching to see him put in a cross though.

Galloway was a bit dissapointing.  Small lad and a number of misplaced passes.

Finkler looked tidy and switched on.

Watson took a couple of chances including a long range with the keeper too far off the line, but I didn't particularly see anything from him that suggests he's moved forward.  We'll see.

Singh looked confident, got involved and had enough presence to suggest he's grown into it all a bit more and is probably ready for some game time.

Mullen very solid, in both meanings of the word.  Big unit doing a tidy job.

Fox looked good.

Otherwise a lot of non-starters, academy kids who aren't ready, or players who showed much the same as last season (Ridenton and Parkhouse, though, looked a notch above the others not already mentioned.  Ridenton seemed to be combining well with Finkler and involved in play).

Darije looked like a man not to argue with.  Reasonably animated a few times with instructions to players.

Particularly when the better Nix players were still on, the side played with a lot more intent, pace and game control than in this fixture last year (which was worringly slow paced, messy, and lacking intent, I thought back then).

And the selection side looked pretty tidy, played some good football, had some good pace and gave them a decent run.

Reasonably encouraging, particularly with the front three starters missing.

That Singh goal was nice. Mullen doesn't look like a starter. I liked Abbas and Paracki, two seasoned no nonsense pro's. Rogerson the opposite, lot's of running and doing stuff without any meaningful outcome. Watson was Watson.

Interesting given the season is so close...little time to integrate.

Abbas didn't cross that I saw.

I thought Singh was okay when on the ball but still not looking to make his presence known in the wide role..waited for others to note he was free..which was often and not used.

Hoping for a convincing win. Then it's onto the Mariners, in their clashing kit to ours... I wonder if any measure will be taken to make sure they don't clash.

We're away so it's not an issue.  We have a second strip that (shockingly!) is made up of a different colour to our home strip.
