A-League "Ref Haters" will spew!

A phoenix flew off with his lunch when he was a little boy, apparently. It's affected him deeply ever since

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

All I want from A League referees is consistancy. If they are going to be sh*t to us, they should be sh*t to our opposition teams as well. last season I saw more than a few games where we were given the rough end of the stick yet when the opposition tried the same things, the officials were conveniently blind.

If you're gonna be bad officials, be bad to everyone.

Do you honestly think that we've had decisions go against us because we're the Phoenix?  In your mind, are refs blatently treating us differently to other teams?

That's funny.......

Yes we have had decisions go against us solely because its us.
Ben Williams most notably.

DLB - I think your being a little short sighted my friend, I don't think the A-league refs have gone out of their way to purposely screw us. I do think however they were watching us more closely and possibly penalising us a little more harshly than others............also their were some incidents that we were penalised for that other teams were not.

I'm not questioning the standard of the refereeing, we all know that in general it was dire.  I also agree that we may have had decision go against us that seemed to be let go for another team in the same (or other) games.  This is the same in football all over the world, the biggest bone of contention around the world is no necessarily the standard of referees but more the consistency of decisions from one ref to another and week in week out.

My point was more about the fact that some people on this board think that the refs treated us differently ("watched more closely) because of who we are and effectively discriminated against us.  Think about it, really, its paranoia at a very child like level.  The people that think like this are the people that think the bloke in front is following them

DLB is right. Do we really believe there is a refeering conspiracy against us? I find it difficult to believe that the refs take a mental check on which team did or didn't do something before blowing the whistle.

But what do I know - I believe the moon landings weren't faked, the 911 incident was not sponsored by the US government, that FIFA didn't instruct the refs to get Italy out of 2002....

At least you don't have to put up with Tahitian refs in the A-League. There, i said it.

Three for me, and two for them.

It was apparent last season that Ben Williams had it in for us - repeatedly. Yep, it was undeniable if you ask me. The guy couldn't hide the fact if he tried.  In the interests of professionalism, a ref that demonstrates such bias should be condemned for it, and shown the door, and there should be no place for such corrupt practices by officials in the A-league. What do any referee-types on this forum think?

I think (he said trying to word this as delicately as possible) that Mr Williams did seem to make a disproportionately large number of contentious decisions in games involving the Phoenix than in games which didn't.  Not that I'm criticising a referee, you understand!

I also believe that, at any level, referees who don't perform to the required standard should be dropped.

"Undeniable.....corrupt practices......such bias"

Do you think that if he was undeniably corrupt and biased they may have done something about it?  Really? Undeniably corrupt?

That's funny!

If you could get the fans from the other team to agree, I think you would have a case, but I doubt you could. A lot of your comments stem from dissapointment in the results.

I like the look of this rule, and think it could make a difference.

I wonder if it might take a load off a ref's mind and we get better more consistent decisions as a result (would it refs???)

To balance it, I would like the captains to be able to put a report in on the refereeing, and the concerns in those games( at this top level certainly) be assessed by independent panelists, and refs dropped for continual inconsistency

Maybe that happens already??

im all for captains only, players russing the ref is a blight on the game. just like 'divers'.  who i personally believe should be taken out back and taserd in a random body part. then they can rejoin the players on the pitch....if they can function properly
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.
