I love how they quoted people off here, in particular me.

Three for me, and two for them.

what the story with multiple scanners??

Phoenix fanclub Yellow Fever claims adult football fans are gaining entry to Westpac Stadium using children's tickets, and groups of scammers are scanning a single electronic ticket multiple times at the stadium's gates

I've done it with a season pass. But slightly by accident. Renewed my student pass forgetting that I'm not a student anymore. Didn't go out of my way to fix it,so feel a little bad.

But I'm sure others of you wouldn't either. I'll change it to an adult pass next season, though I bet ticketek will make this difficult.

I have a season pass but it doesn't matter because I'm a kid anyways.

The internet has made journalists so god damn lazy.

Tialata had a story done about weepu coming straight from his twitter comments, and even a photo he took. Now instead of doing their own research if this issue they're just churning out comments from this forum.

Sigh.

How long until someone says :"the rugby is getting less fans, but clearly they're more honest"?

Seriously though, don't you just love newspapers? All fun and games until they get something you care about in their sights

That's what I dont understand. It affects all sports at the stadium,it affected the rugby on Saturday, the nix on Sunday, and the league this Saturday.

How has this turned into a "fans are causing the Phoenix to go bankrupt" story?

Has anyone else wondered whether this thread will just alert others to the fact that this scam exists, thereby making the problem worse?

You watch. Footpaul will sell the story to Daft Burgess.

Tomorrow's headline: "Terry owes money for unpaid medical bill" (removal of Mr Muck-raking Kitschin from Terry's arse)

Mr Serepisos stated "I'm having cash flow problems thanks to some pesky meddling adults pretending to be kids"

No. that would go against their company ethos of doing as little as possible for their money. Although, on the other hand, if they managed to seriously frustrate large numbers of fans by slowing down getting into the stadium, particularly if it meant some people missed kick off, well - that'd be a positive contribution to one of the KPi's surely wouldn't it?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Id have thought they'd have a system where it flashes a different colored light for a concession ticket,if the guard is then unsure, they can ask for ID.

Perhaps they could make season tickets different colours? (as long as they aren't an opposition colour, then bwfc would mock and abuse them)

It only needs to beep when it's a kids ticket right? Which wouldn't be that many and only needs a quick glance to see that it's a kid. No biggie I reckon.

Season holders get a special flashing yellow light and Dario G music when they go thru the turnstiles.

Other ticket holders have to get checked and if anyone is ripping the club off then season pass holders can give them a good kicking (as a half-time competition).

As a season pass holder, I fully endorse this suggestion.

I paid $16 for my 6 year old yesterday.
I think thats a bit steep for such a small child, in an empty stadium.

I probably could have pushed her under the tunrnstiles as I do my 4 year old, but I didnt.

We got a family pass for the boca game, but what's the cut off age for children? over 16? I think teenagers are more likely to get away with it. What if they don't have ID, how can they been deemed older than a child.

People do it with student tickets as well, theyre the same price as childrens tickets. I know for a fact that its reaching epic proportions, i went to the CCM game earlier in the season with about 10 people my age (early/mid 20's), only myself and one mate had adult tickets.Everyones doing it and will continue to do it until the 'security' at the turnstyles are actually checking each ticket before its entered. This is the only way its going to be phased out.

Student not same price. YF Zone prices (before Ticketek BF rip-off) Adult $28.00, Child (5-16 years) $12.50, Student      $18.50.

Still a "saving" that I'm sure a lot of recently ex students take advantage of.

See, if they didn't spend all their money on Sid Viscous T shirts and Debbie Blondie albums, they could afford to pay full price.

Id imagine same rule as at my work. No ID no concession price. With obvious exceptions in cases where common sense should prevail e.g 5 year old kid is obviously a child..

With the amount of turnstyles at the stadium and the Red Badge people policing them, could they not segregate the Childs/Students and adults tickets into rows?  Have the scanners re-programmed to accomodate only those categories of tickets?  That way, anyone entering the scanners cannot pass off as adults with childrens tickets?  Also conditions of the student tickets stipulate that Student ID must be on the ticket holder.  Then Red Badge could check these IDs as they go through.  AS far as i am aware, most student IDs now have photos.  I know this will slow up the processing of entrance, but it just means people would have to leave the Backbencher earlier!

The internet is simply another tool for journalists. I wouldn't see it as lazy, rather a more efficient use of our time. Rather than just get comment from YF spokespeople, I felt it important to get comment from regular game attendees, so I started this thread. The alternative was calling random numbers in the Wellington phone book and asking if they were Nix fans!

As far as the angle many media have taken - that of the financial affect it will have on the club - this came from the comments of Guy Smith to National Radio. As far as the motives of other reporters who covered this story, I cannot comment, but for me I wrote the story because I am aware of people using kids' tickets and I think the club should do something about it.

It quite clearly is an issue that is important to supporters of the club, as the level of feedback on this thread indicates. So your angst is unjustified. I think people on here get a little too defensive about the way the media cover the team.

could be because of comments made about football are made by journalists who know very little about the game generally

ok - so it seems journo's are using this website for their next story, why don't we make something ficticous up like "pie at the stadium causes food poisoning" - heaps of people agree and say they had food poisoning following a home game, jouno's report it - chronic outbreak etc laugh is on us.
Only an example but sure some guys could think of some good yarn...?

Not sure about the food, but I had a few red wines at the stadium last week & I started to feel disorientated, I then became unsteady on my feet, before losing the ability to speak. Maybe some further investigation is required into these disturbing revelations!

p.s If the pies were that dodgy, Hard News would have to live in Intensive Care !

people have been doing this from day one....we as season ticket holders, they were telling us what mugs we were......quick fix....random ticket checks before and during the match..or CHECK the tickets at the gate...common sence one would think, but Westpac Stadium Trust don't seem to give a toss.. When they do the Bag seach.....check the tickets..........i would say any event at the Stadium with Kids Tickets has this happening.
