Radio New Zealand has reported many adult fans are buying kids' tickets to get into Phoenix games. I'm keen to know what fans on here think (warning - I may quote you!). Are tickets too dear and using cheaper tickets is the only way you can get in? Or do you feel paying full price supports the club?

Cheers

personal I think it's morally wrong...I'm not sure what % of the gate the nix get but whatever it is adults getting in on concession tickets is ripping the club off.

tickets aren't that costly! excluding the ridiculous "booking fee" that ticketek add to every purchase whether you buy 1 ticket or multiple.

Any adult who is buying kids tickets to get into a game is ripping the club off. It wouldn't matter what sport it is, it's still cheating.
The Phoenix rely on ticket sales for home games to avoid having huge losses for the club each year (eg the somewhat mythical 10,000 tickets per-game break-even point)

If this was proven to be a problem, I wouldn't blame Terry if he decided to stop selling childrens tickets online.

Ticket prices are not expensive.Ard Righ2010-10-18 07:59:40

Just becasue your a twat and want to rip the club off because you can, doesnt make it right. Its your attitude we would rather not have at the game, not the ticket sales.

I'm getting a lot of abuse here, I only did it once which was last season.

ffs.

imo If it helps crowd numbers it's fine.

helps crowd numbers, so getting 15000 in at childrens prices compared to 11000 at adults prices makes sense to you? do the math! theprof2010-10-18 08:27:06

Oldest trick in the book for the stadium, although I can't say I have ever done it for the Nix (season ticket holder).

Human nature, sadly. There will always be people who will look for a way to get round paying full whack for their tickets.

Personally, I think anyone who does it should have their testicles removed with a rusty razor blade and be paraded round the ROF wearing them as earrings. That would teach them.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Not just a Nix issue. Basically the same for all events at the stadium where they have different price categories. I guess that is the trade off of having the efficiency of the scanners as opposed to someone standing their ripping tickets.

Well I thought he was banned so why has he been allowed to re-register.

Regardless if you are a troll or not, you don't think people are just a little tired of your schtick?
You're not morally bankrupt. You're just a f**king idiot.
I can see it around the water cooler now

If I ever meet you at a game, I'm going to punch you. And if any mod wants to ban me for this post, I'm not fussed nor will I protest. In fact, it been a good start to my morning getting that off my chest.

Most of the ticket turnstiles have a Red badge person monitoring them.

When we go through the turnstile it beeps and shows on the LED readout to proceed through.

My suggestion is get the company who installed the turnstiles to differentiate between adult and chld tickets and alter the audio beep to a distinctive tone on every child's ticket.
Alternatively, flash a lamp on each turnstile when a child's ticket is activated.
When that tone sounds or the lamp flashes the red badge attendant can see if it is in fact a child or not.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

The expense and hassle of making these changes would clearly be a worthwhile exercise given the significant number of people cheating the system.

People do it with student tickets as well, theyre the same price as childrens tickets. I know for a fact that its reaching epic proportions, i went to the CCM game earlier in the season with about 10 people my age (early/mid 20's), only myself and one mate had adult tickets.

Everyones doing it and will continue to do it until the 'security' at the turnstyles are actually checking each ticket before its entered. This is the only way its going to be phased out.

Student not same price. YF Zone prices (before Ticketek BF rip-off) Adult $28.00, Child (5-16 years) $12.50, Student      $18.50.

Still a "saving" that I'm sure a lot of recently ex students take advantage of.

I know, I know, its serious!

you can buy a family pass and all the separate tickets to that don't say weather its a childs or adults. This is what we do.

Apologies if you get all angry but it just offsets the cost and enables 4 of us to go for a reasonable price rather than all be hit hard before we even get to the game and pay $4.50 for a punnit of chips. The prices for an adult ticket are ridiculous and how are you meant to attract your friends to come by saying it costs 33 bucks to get in?

I've never done it, nor would I consider it but thinking about it, if someone was really hard up and they otherwise wouldn't be able to come isn't it better that they do that?  Just a thought.  For those who can actually afford it, though, and still rip the system off - I hope Terry catches them personally!

I'm not even going to comment on the rest of your post, but how much would you suggest that the tickets should be then?

$5? $3?
