The person in charge of transfers left NZF on Friday for a new job.The person who was placed in charge of transfers was away on holiday and didn't have internet access. They were aware of the window but it was unexpected for NZF that a transfer was coming.Office staff picked it up when they got in on Tuesday but couldn't work the system. They tried to do it manually but after the deadline passed (read Wednesday).

So seems like NZF didn't train staff on how to use the system / didn't do a proper hand over and they lacked the ability to actually use the FIFA website.

If they started the manual process (which I'd imagine is sending an email to FIFA?) before the deadline passed rather than the next day then I'm sure it would have all been okay.

If this is correct then the Nix had not forewarned NZF a transfer was coming.  That may have helped if that had alerted NZF to make sure their remaining staff were up to speed.

95/5, 90/10, 80/20, 70/30, who the heck cares what proportion of blame is involved between the parties.  All I want to hear is that when we are planning an overseas transfer we alert NZF one is coming.  It seems unbelievable we'd not.  They don't happen every day.

Over it though.  We look like bozos, NZF look like bozos and a decent UK kid is going home.  That's my club and my NZF.  Pointing fingers doesn't change that we are all looking like bozos.

I doubt nzf would appreciate a heads up for every player that nz clubs happen to be talking to.

Don't be a Twit.  This was a signing that they expected to put through over anniversary weekend.  If you think it is dumb to give a heads up to NZF on this then I think that your thinking is just dumb as well.

I especially like how you started with the personal attacks there. All class.

And I appreciate that you twisted the argument away from what it was - an international transfer from NZs only professional club (as I've amended this), to suggest that this would apply to all NZ local transfers.  Sorry but that IS a twit of an argument.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER WINDOW - HELLO? Anyone home at NZF? Surely the NZF know when INTERNATIONAL transfer windows and loan windows open and close?

Ballane, it's not as if the Nix could have gone to another organisation to process the transfer. They are stuck with them to do a competant and professional 10 minute job. EPIC fail.

They probably should have given a heads up that they are talking to a player, on the other hand nzf should have realised that their only professional club had a few injuries and also had two foreign spots open so was must likely on the look out for players.

I agree.  As I said, there is no point apportioning blame.  But it does seem that Nix could have possibly averted this with a heads up.  I am not the one screaming that NZF are incompetent or suggesting that heads should roll at the Nix for this.  But it does seem that there is a step here that could have been taken that MAY have averted all the problems and I would hope that would become standard practice between the Nix and NZF in the future.  And I am by no means implying that NIX were the primary issue here, simply that there is something that they could do differently that I am surprised was not done in the first place.

What I'm intrigued about is the software or technology that nobody at NZF could figure out. I mean really how hard can it be and as said why didn't they phone/email FIFA and say we are having problems with the software please help??

I'm also assuming that someone had to install the software and there was some training and I find it hard to believe that only one person who had - left and the only other one was holidaying on Mars. Really these are the only two people in the organization?

So there was no manual or anything??? No FIFA online guide?

I think it's all a load of bullshiiite. I think the were all in holiday mode and nobody was making sure the basics were being done. It's just poor management.

Considering the recent fiasco with ineligible NZ players I would have thought NZF would have been very alert regarding anything to do with international transfers etc, especially one involving the Phoenix.

And also, the least the fudgeers at NZF could do is apologise for fudgeing up.  Not once have they come out and said sorry.  Its not like we can use anyone else.  This is a job that only NZF could possibly do.  So how about fudgein saying sorry you useless cods.  YOU HAD ONE FUCKING JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm more worried about how overseas clubs will deal with us, It's our name and club that gets a bad name not NZF. Man I really hate those bastards up there...NZF should be down here with new board and a better admin staff.

Real Madrid and Man Utd somehow managed to fudge up the David De Gea transfer before the close of the European summer transfer window, so really this makes us look like we can match it with European giants ;)

Nix dont quite have the attractiveness of Real Madrid, id say. We fight tooth and nail for any kind of transfer deal. This will have done irrepairable damage.

Perhaps NZF thought that the International Transfer Window and International Matches were related, and realising that we don't participate in International Matches, thought that for cohesive purposes that we also shouldn't participate in the Transfer window.

We'd have to get Birmingham to agree to release him in order for us to sign him.

Worth a try but don't know what the likelihood is that they'll let him go for squat.

Alex is pretty pragmatic about it on twitter: basically he can't comment, everything happens for a reason, go the nix.

Purely based on the head he seems to have on his shoulders he would have been an asset to the club. I'd be having a rant that if my name was Kanye West or Courtney Love would have me on the front page of stuff.

I guess he will get over it quickly, something else good will turn up. Still effing embarassing for us.

I can't be bothered reading the whole thread but this is 100% another NZF screw up. There is simply no excuse for this. You would assume people working there like football and are aware of what is going on in the game in NZ, eg Phoenix trying to sign players.

Just confirms everything we have suspected for the last few years - the whole organisation at NZF is a complete and utter shambles with no idea what they are doing

Guys just remember if you are a registered player, that under the code of conduct you can't "speak to any media in a negative way, or publish any negative comment (including on any website) regarding New Zealand Football or any of its Federations."

Should shut these forums down.

At 55 I don't think I care if I am suspended from playing ?. I do care about this forum and the freedom of expression too. I care about the Nix being on the rough end of the stick from both the FFA and also the NZF. I also believe in accountability of people in positions of power that make continual screw ups.

he was talking about it before we realised that the transfer didn't go through, he said something like we've been watching that player for 9 months, wanted to sign him before but didn't have any spots, and while it is only a loan who knows what will happen next year.

It's shady on several levels. The 'no internet connection' thing?! What the fudge. That obviously makes them look pretty stupid, but given how unwilling they are to give any further details I'd be willing to bet a fair chunk of cash that the real story behind how that is even possible is even more embarrassing for NZF.
