Just an idea, but we really need to get under peoples noses to attract them to the games. Fever Friday was good but we need to do "great". We need to show our colours rampantly, in the faces of Joe Public. Prior to the elections, political parties would gather at intersections and wave their colours and ask for "Honk" for this party or that. I can see 70-80 nix (fever) fans on the corner of Whitford-Brown & SH1 at Porirua on the Friday morning before a game, 30-40 flags on poles lining the site & fans waving their scarves. You couldn't be missed, every single person driving to town from the north would see it, hear it and mention it to their mates at work. The same at various other intersections. Also, imagine 100 flags on 12ft poles, planted at 10m intervals lining a major route into town, both sides of the road just for a friday before the game. Anyway, somebody has to do something, cos clemenger has done jack sh*t.
Normo's coming home
Yep, I've bought that last point up before. It's completely the wrong kind of market that they're targeting in my opinion. If its a bit wet or something else is on that's free (like Santa parade and carols) they don't show up. Also as you say, they're not the ones with massive amounts of money to spend on tickets.
But hey, I'm just a fan, welnix doesn't care what I think.
Allegedly
Instead of going off and doing your own thing, do you think it might be more constructive to try and engage with the club and point out to them why their current marketing etc is not working/badly targeted? Personally, I think the targeting of families can make it all a little bit too "organised fun" and hasn't really done a lot for the brand of the club this year. At least under Terry there was a little bit of "coolness" associated with the club in the first couple of seasons (unfortunately that went out the window). Targeting families is all well and good but right now, with people struggling, are they the ones who will be suffering most financially?

I think families should be targeted a lot more selectively instead of week in week out. They should have a kids/families day once or twice a season, and go all out with the family-based marketing on those weeks.
Then they can mix it up a bit with a "get maggot-drunk in the rain on a friday night" day, a "lock up your wives and daughters" day, and a "football vs rugby, bring your own shiv" day. Or something like that.
Have you made a comment on Gareth's blog yet. He's answering most of the comments so get into it...

How about family marketing in the second half of the season when the weather might be more likely to entice them out?
First half can be more for young adults/dinkies and be more Friday or Sat night games.
Also how much Saturday afternoon sport goes on between Oct - March? Not may people play cricket these days...
