So does Terry have to go back to court in four weeks or is all the legal stuff on hold now?

It would be somewhat ironic if in the process of trying to destroy Terry, the NBRs inquisition into Syeed inadvertently put enough pressure on him to honour this one particular contract.

As zonkerz says, I really doubt whether Ali Syed really has $100 million, but it's possibly he may have found a couple of million to throw at Terry. I'm interested to hear whether he's keeping up the payments on Racing Santander.

C-Diddy: The Herald has a "Terry avoids liquidation, details soon" banner.Doloras2011-03-10 10:43:08

I'd call that unlikely rj.  It's not like he's in NZ.  He couldn't care less.

Doloras, might need Smith to offer advice on that.

We're not saved - yet- but he has 4 weeks to put in place a substantial refinancing deal.

Good news, but not yet a solution.

Maybe they're just trying to figutre out the best way of putting a negative spin on it.

If Ali Syed really couldn't care less, he wouldn't have been threatening to sue the NBR. Assuming that the wikifrauds.net narrative is correct and he's a con man, the key to the continuing success of the con is to keep a lid on bad publicity. Mattnipp and the NBR are in thick with the wikifrauds.net people - bad press doesn't stop at the border any more.

When the jig is up, he will of course run and hide; but until then he will want to at least make it look like he's coming through to some degree - eg. starting to pay off Santander's tax bill, or even possibly putting some money in Terry's bank account (perhaps just refunding his application fee and calling it a loan).Doloras2011-03-10 10:46:33

Presumably, as you say Doloras, there were other fish to land...

Anyone else being wondering if Syed first discovered his "love" of football ownership when Terry came into the frame? The 'failed' Blackburn acquisition probably cost him little, and the ownership of Santander may have cost him (initially) around 40,000 euros according to Wikifrauds...

I really doubt thats the reason either. I just thought it would be funny if did turn out to be the case. It's more than an NZ thing though, it's become international and I hope that Syed gets tracked down and Terry can at least get some of his money back.

I guess the main thing I (selfishly) want to know whether the Phoenix will be funded decently next season and how soon we will know if that is the case.

Radio Sport saying the IRD now have faith in the loan but they're talking US rather than WGA.

Ali Syed bought Racing just to impress Terry? If I was a Racing fan I would be extremely insulted by that. But I doubt that Terry's that important. Terry's loan is pretty small fry compared to some that WGA is said to have promised to Australians.

Am I the only one really looking forward to seeing Terry come on TV in a few months to say: "WGA was a fraud and Ali Syed ripped me off of $1.5 million. I hereby declare that I am teaming up with his Australian victims to scour the earth for that motherf*cker. If Ali Syed goes to Indochina, I'll have a Greek hiding in a bowl of rice ready to pop a cap in his ass. HOLY WAR!!!"

If Syed traded 40k Euros for Terry's purported 1.3m initially, he made a good deal.

If you look at the press in Northern Spain (being billed as some sort of regional saviour), my guess is he paid out the further 2m Euros, given substantial fees he was trying to attract there.

Spain press still seems to be in the denial/disbelief stage.

That'll be Plan B then. That seems to have come out of left field, nobody seems to have been saying anything about the US before this emerged. Nice one Terry.

I thought that the reporter I just heard on ZB was talking about 'a letter from the WGA office in the US' ... so could still be one and the same.

I don't think they have one. Pretty peaceable people. Of course, he could convert to Catholicism so he could declare CRUSADE.

Syed can sue me c/o under the railway bridge, adjacent to westpac stadium, but it's not 100% clear they were never going to deliver any loan.

There have been some mutterings abroad about Syed supposed to have been Laundering 'dirty' indian cash via WGA for some indian 'godman'.

In any case, i don't expect Syed to be long for this earth.

Forget the 50 basis point cut in the Reserve Bank rate, this is far more important in keep up confidence.

So points I took away.
The meeting was adjourned for 10 minutes to ensure confirmation of payment was made.  Not sure if this was from Terry to IRD, or from a loan to Terry.
Terry has the 18th of April to come up with the money.  Judge noted it was unlikely to be adjourned again.
Between now and then, Terry must keep up to date with PAYE, ACC etc payments, otherwise the IRD can call a liquidation meeting with 24 hours notice.
Neither ACC or IRD argued against this proposal.

How hilarious if Terry was saved by the ill-gotten gains Hyderabad's equivalent to Brian Tamaki. But if any money at all comes through from WGA - no matter how dirty it is - a lot of people, some with nipples on their faces, are going to be a bit off-balance. I happily admit that Ali Syed is on the balance of probabilities a crook, but - as I previously said - if he is a crook, then he goes out of business if he never fronts up with any cash, so it's in his interests to front up with some cash to some victims, I mean "clients".

[quote]In any case, i don't expect Syed to be long for this earth.
