plane travel, airport waiting, time difference, different sleeping and resting place, i.e.hotel, climate change, difference stadium, different atmosphere, opposite supporters.
Its all really tough and you have to feel for the players. A lot of them say that it shouldn't be an excuse. But I do feel sorry for them as it is, and its stating the obvious it is and they just have to cope with it.
Very tough especially as we are one of the biggest travelling teams in world football.
At home, none of those points apply and the visting team has come a long way. So its all a lot easier!!!
What a load of crap. They are supposed to be professionals, they need to start acting like it. I travel from Sunshine Coast to Sydney for morning meetings, have to be up at 4am to catch the flight to be at the meeting on time. I cant afford to F&*k up just because Im not in my own office. Its about time our players toughened up a bit and acted like the high paid professionals that they are supposed to be. I have supported the Nix from day one, spent 1000s to get to their games both in Wgtn and away, but Im seriously thinking of changing my allegience to the Roar it will save me a stack load of money and at least they show some balls away from home.

I'd be playing sh*te if I was starting a game at 11pm NZT. This is always going to hurt us.
Adapt to it. Train at 11pm for the week leading up to the game. Seriously, there is no excuse. These are professional players who get paid to play the game we love. If they can't handle waiting @ airports or playing at different times then they shouldn't be professional football players.

The Roar just won their first away game out of the last 9.

So you're going to ditch the team you've been "supporting" since Day 1 because they're coming 6th (which makes the finals), are on a record run at home and are struggling for form away from their supporters. Good one.

these kind of "fans" we can do without, a true fan would stick with the team through anything.....

You would have thought that most of them would've adapted by now no?
It's not that far off being the same for a lot of the Aussie teams, NQF and Perth for example.
And when was the last time any Aussie team won at the RoF? Same thing. (1 win in 25 NZ trips)
Although, taking your point about Glory and Fury, it would be interesting to know what their away form over the last couple of seasons is like.
That said, I agree that they are professional footballers, and playing well away from home is part and parcel of the job description.

We should just forfeit away matches. Save Terry's money and everybody's time.
I was going to catch an away game later in the season but no way I'm spending hundreds to make the migration across the ditch to see us lose.

I agree. We'd be doing everyone a favour. However, this doesn't go far enough, Given our home record, Aussie teams can save themselves the trip, and forfeit 3 points for Nix home games. This is win-win for everyone. Nix fans save themselves the weekly angst of wondering what this week's result will be, the Aussie clubs/FFA save the expense of a costly away trip to NZ, Terry can use the money that would otherwise be spent on airfares to pay back all his creditors. The Nix at least, might actually turn a profit, get some positive press, and with 45 points, we'd be pretty close to playoff football.

And the same as any team in the Champions League.
Who play away how often? Once every four weeks?
Think it's a bit more than that to be fair. Not to mention their own league and cup teams.
These teams probably play double the number of games that Phoenix play.

Yeah I take the point about nobody winning here either, but there have been a large number of draws in that time (which is more than we get most of the time) and there's also Sydney who travelled here and beat us last season, albeit in the ring of dirt.
If anything, Perth have to travel further than the Phoenix?

Swap the team, start:
Musa, Toto, Daniel, Diego, Rojas, Pav and Big Mac.
Just mix things up, give people a fright.
Also I would like to see some of our players who never get a chance to prove themselves, or rarely.
I don't know, but do something Ricki, this could be a fun option.
It could be a disaster but at least it's trying something new for an away game.

I'm more making the point of change.
Changes need to be made, if it's a shake up for positions then so be it...
But I don't really think that's where the problem lies, it's just a jinx now, a mental thing that needs to be conquered.

Regardless, at the moment it can't be much worse starting those two than what's going on at the moment anyway so why not.

Don't think Herbert will change much. However he has to make a call on Dylan McAllister, and give him another go as the aerial option in the box, as was always his intention, and suits the way he's got them playing at the moment. Play 4-4-2 with McAllistar alongside Greenacre. Hitting long balls and aerial crosses into the area is futile. Oz defences will lap it up all night - and currently do.

We did seem to play reasonably well pre-season playing 4-4-2 with Greeny and Mac up front - especially in the Hamiltron game v. Roar. Not entirely sure why we moved away from that.

Possibly because the manager is too cautious when it comes to the real thing.

yeah which is a shame. Should try and stick to what he saw pre-season for the league.

The difference between this season and last season is that we managed to draw a lot of our away matchs.
This in essence provided us with a point and denied our opposition two.
This gave us the momentum up the table.
This season we are easy beats away from home.
two reasons..poor execution out of midfield and lack of a genuine finisher..
Rikki unfortunately does not seem to have a plan B.
It is not difficult to win away from home, most of the A league sides can achieve this,
The warriors don't seem to have this hang-up as they won 7 out of 12 matchs away this year.
perhaps the ,longer the Nix go without the away win the more it will weigh on their minds and become a rather large hurdle to overcome.
In reality the heart match was the one to target and really watching the nix play the GCU at Robina reminded me of the NZ knights for 90 minutes...
