On the back of some scintillating form that is making the whole A-League sit up and take notice, the Wellington Phoenix are giving fans more chances to get up close and personal with their football heroes.
The Wellington Phoenix are taking two training sessions to the wider Wellington region and opening two further training sessions at their traditional training ground at Newtown Park.
Phoenix General Manager David Dome says the rationale behind the open training sessions is simple – it’s an opportunity to meet professional footballers and to encourage the wider football family to get behind the Club and get along to Phoenix matches at Westpac Stadium.
“Ernie has got the team playing attractive, exciting football. We’re scoring great goals with some really exciting players who are at the top of their game,” Dome said.
“There’s some real optimism around the Club at the moment. We’ve got some exciting new signings including ASB Premiership star Roy Krishna and re-signings with Manny Muscat and Carlos Hernandez. We’re on a roll result wise and looking good doing it.
“We just need the crowds to show up and be part of this with us.”
Training sessions will be followed by chances to have photos and autographs.
The Phoenix’s next home match is this Sunday January 12 against Central Coast Mariners, kick off 7pm , and doubles as the Club’s annual ‘kids-go-free’ game.
