Alexi Lalas did a great one too, but unfortunately Youtube is having problems with it, I might need to convert it to another format first then try uploading again. I'm uploading the mayors speech now.

Sorry all, I'm having real trouble with Youtube, I'll have another go at it tommorow. I have a video of the pōwhiri, and videos of the speeches of Alexi Lalas and Kerry Prendergrast.

Beckham ate at Monsoon Poon last night - a guy that i work with got his autograph on a napkin. Apparently he was generally left to enjoy his meal in peace without being bothered people.

No worries Ginger, you should drop by the house of poon sometime and check our curries out, and we also got David to sign a plate for our plate wall of fame.

Funnily enough I was thinking just yesterday that Monsoon Poon had the best butter chicken in town, a very nice smokey flavour to it.

But I'm not a huge butter chicken fan

Got back from the RoF recently, I left early. The place is packed with screaming schoolgirls haha. The squealing almost got to me. Heaps of kids doing mexicans waves and stuff, having a great time, really awesome to see. I'd say about 11,000 people there, all screaming. Not as loud as a Phoenix match, but louder than a Hurricanes match! Took some more photos for the LA Riot Squad, I'll be posting them soonish

I've also just got back from the training.  The school twisted my arm to be a parent helper   10,000+ kids are incredibly noisy and not in a good way!  Galaxy's training wasn't particularly strenuous or complicated.  Some 7 a side games in first a 1/4 of the pitch and then almost a 1/2.  The Galaxy strikers learnt to shoot from the same place as that guy Robinson at Perth (you'd need two goals on top of each other for them to score - if they were lucky).  Fortunately the coffee guy was there!

I hope we get as many enthusiastic supporters at tonight's game - preferably at least 10 years older on average though.

Now that's the kind of rumour we want to see in this thread!!

Just got back from a quick walk at lunchtime. Lots of Phoenix shirts and retro Ricki's around, heaps of happy kids walking back from the stadium, RYOS is totally jammed and every single person at work is talking about Beckham and the Phoenix.

All I can say is enjoy the next few days people, because right now we OWN this town!

And for the sceptical few who still can't lower themselves to seeing Beckham play an exhibition match - get over it and grab a ticket. You are going to forever regret not being there for the biggest football event in Wellington's (maybe NZ's) history.
