Not sure if anyone has seen this but:
http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/wellingtonphoenix/news-display/Black-Out-The-Heart/44288

The 2011/12 Hyundai a-League is now well over half way and the charge to the finals is on! The Wellington Phoenix need your support at the next home game against the high flying Melbourne Heart more than ever before.

To darken the spirits of the high flyers we want you to come all dressed in black. Lets make Westpac Stadium even more daunting than it usually is.

Phoenix fans are renown throughout the A-League as some of the loudest, most creative and passionate in the A-League. So us how creative you can be with black and be into win in some fantastic (black) Sony prizes including tablets, e-readers and signed mini Phoenix balls.

Were also planning a unique, once-only-ever event at the game. If you are a hard core fan, or just want to be there for something that will never happen again, then you will want to be a part of this. Exactly what it is remains a secret and will only be revealed on game day so you will not want to miss this one

Should be good if everyone gets into this.

Honestly, I think it's a spectacularly underthought idea.

We play in Yellow with some black, not black. Are people going to change what has been lucky because someone decrees we should wear black?  You've got a fan base with enough Yellow to cover the surface of Wellington so you tell them to wear a different colour?  Bizarre.

It's not like Black is even the colour of the national football side.

Why would we do this when we are known for our yellow? We are not All Black supporters and why make it about blackening out the heart? Why make it about them? I would make it all about emphasising our yellow. Its our stadium our home fortress, no one elses. Jeff Vader2012-01-15 23:25:02

Oooooh. I've never seen that suggested before. Like, at an All Blacks or Kiwis game., for example.

Seems to be the easy way out. "What will we do? I know, everyone can wear black...."

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Worst Black Heart idea since Murray Deaker.

I like the idea.

To demonstrate my passionate support I will come dressed in all black and chant "Phoenix, clap, clap, clap" for about 2 mins and then sit down quietly for the rest of the game.

To make it a really daunting experience we should reinstate the thunder sticks.

Why the FK would you want your fans to dress all in black.I for one take great pride in turning up in my stripey and to suggest to swap it for black is an epic fail by the Phoenix. As suggested above why black, yellow would have been a far better idea.

Can see it already sh*tloads of all black jerseys.FKN great idea.

It's a tricky one.  I'd like to see it go the way of 'Black heart' personally but the thread needs to exist to debate it so at this stage it stays.

Best thing to do is to wear a black rubbish bag with yellow underneath. If no one else wears black, throw the bag in the bin and you are without guilt or evidence.

I'm personally not a fan, but if people get into it and it helps advertise the game then I'm cool with it.

perhaps its a genius plan by promoters to get everyone so fired up that we all do the exact opposite, hence creating an unprecedented sea of yellow, not black.

Why do they announce this sort of thing without liasing with the Yellow Fever first? Why do they surprise everyone with this sort of idea? Do they really not get that fans do what fans do because fans WANT to do it, not because they are TOLD to do it?

Jeez...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Thing is it's going to happen whatever we say now. Hopefully we can interest a bunch of boofheads who think soccer is gay to come along in their All Black gears and we thrash the Heart and they come back next game to sell out the Ring of Fire?

Curious about what the one-off event is going to be.

Maybe they have commissioned a roof to be placed over the Ring of Fire for one game only and they will play the game in the dark?

Come on JD you have been away to long.Think about it black.Yellow yes but black. If the club wanted an idea about what colour it should be all they would have to do is stand on the concourse any home game and the predominate colour is yellow. So why change things.

Let's leave aside the other sporting code.

WELLINGTON Phoenix FC. Wellington colours are yellow and black.

I enjoy and take pride in wearing phoenix colours.

If the club wants to go for gimmicks like this then good luck to it. I'll wear stripey.

Our maybe a 5under1and shirt.

Probably right.  I spose we can be up ourselves a bit.  Probably the black/rugger thing.  And as BT said: "Black should be worn by the NZ soccer team - not white".

FFS people. Completely agree with James Dean here. This is a one-off, of course everyone wears yellow on a regular basis. But that's why this is different. I think it would look cool, it doesn't mean you can't wear your stripey, which is of course half black. Just because the national rugby team wears black it doesn't mean they want the Phoenix to become the All Blacks.

It just seems pretty odd. That was my initial response when I first saw the ad anyway.

Hopefully it does catch on though.

Gee thanks, I think I will.

Never thought about stripey being half black (perhaps that's why it costs $140 as opposed to $220).

It's actually overpriced by $30. Guess buying the all black shirt is like buying in bulk - so cheaper

I think most of the official club merchandise is overpriced.

Hasn't stopped me buying a cack load of clobber (so much so that Jnr Jnr has asked that I only buy YF t shirts for him from now on).
