I notice that when Shane got the ball watching on TV the crowd seemed to be booing. Now if this so, I think we should have more respect for the best A league striker and ALL WHITE striker who we have massive hopes for. I also notice this occurrence happened when Burtos played for the glory.
I believe we need to treat our All White player with some respect no matter what club they play for.
are you Smeltzy are you Smeltzy are you Smeltzy in disguise?
Mate this isn't an issue of respect. the very reason why we booed him was because we felt threatened by him. He's one of the best strikers in the league and has a special place in our hearts as a kiwi who plays for NZ and gave so much to the Nix.
BUT he was given a blank cheque and still decided to go. Fair enough. that's his career choice. but don't expect to come back here and receive a hero's welcome.
I assure you that when he'll play for the All Whites everyone will sing We Love You Smeltzy We Do! It's just how it goes.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: we should put more pressure on opposition strikers. Aloisi, Brosque, Fowler and the tons of 16-year old-Aussie-pretty boys that come to the RoF thinking they're the sh*t..if we got into their heads and messed them up a little it would only do us good.
You could totally see that Smeltz was affected by the booing and he didn't do anything all game. Perhaps if we'd all sung his praises he would have scored a brace and we would have lost the game.
In the end he gave us a wave: that means that he understood what the rules of the game are. and so did we.
