You could apply that to most of the other channels that sky have too! Why bother showing them as well? People are after movies, sport, documentaries.

How's that a relevant comparison?

Do you think that Sky should start a channel solely for WW2 documentaries, or fluffy romantic comedies? NZ is too small a market for Sky to do these kind of things.

having a channel dedicted solely to football whislt sounds great - you would have to fork out more again to sky - arent we paying enough all ready?

After a phoenix home game their are no interviews with a player or coach - sucks really it. no summery from them, straight into the credits - what gives?

got this response from Sky.

Thank you for your email and feedback which will be passed to our Sports
Programming Department.

At the end of the day we allocate programming dollars in the exact ratio to
viewership. If we drop any product it is only because of the fact that the cost
is greater than the viewership and/or sponsorship we receive.

At Sky TV we really believe is important is that New Zealand football fans are
pretty well served by SKY. Some examples of this; we showed the Beckham game on
Prime, the Under 17s Womens World Cup, all the A League games, All Whites
games both here and overseas whenever we can, plus this month we are covering
four games from the FIFA Club World Cup, including the Waitakere United game
where they lost 2:1 to Adelaide.

Even without the Premier League, the FIFA Football World Cup SA 2010 and the
FIFA Confederations Cup SA 2009, every game of Euro 2008, this is far more than
any other network in New Zealand.

err I dont see any other rival sports networks? I think Sky is the monopoly holder.

I wonder if they are sh*t scared people have been over exposed to thugby and are drifting away. I know the attendences dropped last season, perhaps viewership as welll??

It might be cheaper for Sky to outsource it's coverage of football to Foxtel and we'd get heaps more football!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

Are you speaking in jest? The history channel and UK channel are pretty much just those items you speak of! I remember when Sky started and they said you could customise your choices. So I said, movies, sport docos and dump the rest - music, cartoons etc. and they said, no I had to put up with them even though I didn't want them.
