A question regarding suspensions. I know that once a player gets five yellows they miss a game, but after that do they next get suspended if they get another five yellows or is it a lesser number?

Taken from the A-League site:
[quote]5.2 FFA must specify that a Player who accumulates a certain number of Yellow Cards
during the course of the A-League must serve a mandatory match suspension.
5.3 Further to clause 5.2, unless otherwise specified in the A-League competition rules, a
Player who accumulates the following number of Yellow Cards during the course of
the Regular Season, must serve the following mandatory match suspensions:
(a) from Round 1 to Round 21 of the Regular Season, five (5) Yellow Cards
equates to a one (1) match suspension;
(b) eight (8) Yellow Cards during the Regular Season equates to a two (2) match
suspension. For every three Yellow Cards thereafter, a two (2) match
suspension. (For example, two (2) match suspension for 11 Yellow Cards and
14 Yellow Cards)
5.4 Further to clause 5.2, unless otherwise specified in the A-League competition rules, a
Player who accumulates three (3) Yellow Cards during the course of the Finals
Series, must serve a mandatory one (1) match suspension.
So 8 yellow cards is a 2-game suspension, then every 3 yellows after that is another 2-game suspension.
Let's hope we don't have anyone collect 8 yellows.
The 3 yellows in the Finals would be important for the teams finishing top 2, as they play the most games in the Finals under the 2009/10 setup - Home & Away Semi finals, then Preliminary Final/Grand Final combination (depending on results).Ard Righ2009-11-25 09:00:00
