So next up Brisbane. Their home-form has been poor, they've lost their coach and haven't really impressed anyone this season. Yet, they (and the Nix too!) are quite umpredictable, and with the likes of Van Dyke, Tommy Oar, Charlie Miller etc could still do some damage.

I don't see a reason why we can't win. 3 points could potentially see us reach 4th place, or at least solidify our position in the top 6!

That's the formation I would like to see:

                                 Paston
Manny     Seamonster     Durante      Lochhead

                         Brown             Lia

          Bertos                                     Daniel

                               Ifill        Greenacre

Subs:
Crowther
Mulligan
Diego/Caceres
Costa

Mulligan and Diego on the bench? That's pretty pointless.
More likely:
Crowther
Caceres
Hearfield
Barbarouses

Edit:  Colvinator - yes I believe we are!

Herbert isn't Graham Henry. There's no rotation policy. If players are doing well, they are used. if they can't play, the next in line will start. Hence Diego started for Lia.

That's why we have people in the squad who don't play much. We need injury and suspenstion cover, as well as 'form  cover' (think Bertos in the two previous rounds). Players like Mulligan and Chen are in the squad are there for a reason.  They should not be started, nor should they be sent packing.  What they should be doing is playing in a reserve team, but that's a different topic.

Hearfield has looked decent coming off the bench over the last month. He shouldn't be dropped for Mulligan.

Are we going to have to go over this every game for the rest of the season?

Edit: Addicks: Yes.

I had both Diego and Caceres on the bench as alternatives, as Diego seems to be playing a bit better and he's ahead of Caceres in Ricky's mind (since he started yesterday and the Argentinian didn't).

True, PartyBoy has been doing all right, that's for sure. Still Ricky has been known for bringing 'new' people on the bench to give them a run from time to time, see Costa ( till a few weeks back), Magic Marco, Chen etc, so it's not totally unlikely.

Put Marco on the bench. Some real pace and flair to counter the Roar's.

....
diego started over caceres because we needed a centre midfield to replace the suspended lia.
diego is a centre midfielder. caceres is a winger.

also: no mulligan. you'd need to drop troy, who has done well off the bench. also mulligan is rubbish.

Muscat Sigmund Durante Lochhead

Would go same team except straight swap Lia for Diego. Diego did nothing wrong in Newcastle really, so he could maybe push Caceres off the bench.

I think I'd prefer Caceres on the bench - he's been dangerous coming on. I wouldn't be upset if Diego was there instead though.

3 points wont put us in 4th, only as high as 5th. Perth play central coast. And central coast have liek a +13 GD.
3 points is a must if we want to make a real challenge for the season

I don't think so. It was deliberate but no violent conduct/foul play. all in all it was a handball, full stop. It was a blatant one but I don't think it would justify more than a 1 week ban.

Also, 1 Melbourne Victory FC 8 3 4 15 27 2 Sydney FC 8 1 6 15 25 3 Gold Coast United 7 3 5 15 24 4 Central Coast Mariners FC 6 5 4 15 23 5 Perth Glory FC 6 3 6 15 21 6 Wellington Phoenix FC 4 8 3 15 20 7 Adelaide United FC 4 5 6 15 17 8 Brisbane Roar FC 4 4 7 15 16 9 Newcastle Jets FC 4 4 7 15 16 10 North Queensland Fury 3 6 6 15 15
so if perth beat CCM and we win, we will be 5th, one point behind 4th.
If CCM beat Perth and we win, we'll overtake Perth. either way, we need a win.

Well all we needis CCM to lose and beat the 8th place team 6-0. We have done it to the first place team at the time so I think it is possible.

Would go same team except straight swap Lia for Diego.
Agree with that, the side is really well balanced right now, although a central playmaker (Fred) would really put us a class above everyone, Diego was pretty average last night.
You know we belong together...

I'd go as far as to say keep the same line up as last night.

no real hurry to get Lia back in even though he is the man.

Diego did enough to get another chance, plus Manny is only 1 card away from having a week off so Lia will probably be called up for RB or maybe Hearfield.

When Manny does miss a week I think it'll be a chance for Mulli to get on the Bench, but would prefer Rojas.

He'll only go to RB if Brown isn't suspended. Brown is on 4 and is usually pretty likely to get a yellow at some point. Even then, RH may put Troy there. Or possibly, if McKain is ready, shift Dura out.

I have never heard Dura at right back? Has he played there before? I think he would be more suited in the centre as it may be a easier to organise as captain?

Yeah he did for newcastle. And I think he would suit the role more than Sigmund as Durante has good close control and has beat players and passed them. In fact, I reckon he could end up proving more capable than Manny... ?

But just a straight swap back for Lia imo. Although, Greenacre is starting to scare me. Definitely not scoring regularly enough, in saying that though, I wouldnt drop him any time soon. Caceres stays on Bench, And Diego waits a week untill Brown is suspended haha

But This Brisbane team is not sh*t. We have to take them seriously otherwise we will lose., They have the fire power up front and on the flanks. So its very good ve've got Lia back to break them down

What happened to Michael Zullo ? Never seen him this year.

Agreed though, this Brisbane team is decent on paper. Van Dijk and Miller up in that attacking third mean we are going to have to be on our game. More of that brilliant desperate defence from the boys on Sunday would be nice. No pushover, but for sure we can beat them.

If we hadn't been robbed(when Ifill scored)by the linesman against Adelaide(greenacre wasnt making an impact to those of you who argue otherwise), also if the Fury hadn't scored in the 94th minute and again in Townsville(we deserved it though)in the 84th then we could be 2nd. But thats how football go's unfortunately
