jeez, what a rousing reception from the Fever

Sounds a solid signing, but Im not going to overdo celebrations yet

I'm putting a fiva on him getting the golden boot.

Although I too thought Lay down was going to be just what we needed about this time last year

I'm glad he signed. Seeing from youtube and his career stats he has the potential to do very well in the A-League. English players haven't done too well down under but this year with Greenacre and Fowler who's to say that this trend won't change?! I surely hpe it does.

Now we need to find him a good nickname...

any suggestions?

It like to see him celebrate goals by pretending to mow the lawns.

New knickname or his current nickname? Well he is just "Greeny" at Tranmere, and I'm sure the lads in the dressing room will call him that, so.............

Last year I would think many of us would have said this signing was not good enough, setting our sights to low type thing considering the guys we were signing last year and were our expectation levels had been pushed.

This year we have been leaked bits and bobs so we knew we were chasing someone of this ilk from the get go so we all are not displeased.
Will wait until I see him to decide he is what we need

Did Eugene Dadi sign a new contract at Perth, can't remember.  Now THAT would be awsome.  By the way, we need a goalkeeper too.

Dodd would have made a great target man, big, solid and scores goals.

Congrats on the signing Nix management, hope he does the job.

And Lawnmower celebrations are the shizzey

I agree.  Travis Dodd would've been formidable signing.

On second thoughts maybe hum the theme from Green Acres.

I was reading on 4thegame that he was out for the rest of season with suspected medial ligament damage. Is that the latest?

No was an incorrect media report he is fine and is available for selection now so hopefully he can help Tranmere in the playoffs.

His nickname should be "Oliver" after the Eddie Albert charactor. The injuries are a concern considering he's 31 and a striker. Certain filthy bstard defenders in the A League with ugly noses will try and nail him, you watch! having said that, injury free and only 31 means we may have a bargain in our midsts.

My fingers are crossed he will do the job and I will be giving him 100 support. He'll need a partner and i think the Nix need to get two more strikers in, competition and injury scenarios considered.

We had 8 vacancies on our roster after last season. Even if we only fill in 6 to keep under the cap, two need to be strikers. Deiago and "Oliver" having taken up two of those spots.

I don't get all this stuff about him being injury-prone. All players get injury. Look at Lia: young, fit..then BANG!He f**ked his knee! these things just happen. Then of course, a certain Mr Ronaldo who tore his knee three times..that I would call injury-prone.
And Greenacre doesn't seem to be that bad.

Then if he'll be unlucky - we can't tell yet. Look at Perth, they had grampa Dadi up front last year - a 35 years old who held well and did wonders for them.

Then look at Amaral, another grampa who pulled something and ended up on the side lines for a chunk of the season.

I just think that injuries are way too random.

Same here, I don't buy into any of this injury-prone stuff.

"Last year I would think many of us would have said this signing was not good enough"

I don't agree with that, his record is quality. Has played in better leagues than Smetlz with a good goal scoring record.. has a better looking record than that Porter guy and people were raving about him coming..

Plus he's not that old! 31? Dadi banged them in last year and he was 35! and Porter is 30!

I think he is going to come over here and be one of the top strikers in the league!

Excellent signing, well done Tony P.

Looking at the vid for the 5th time I can see him putting away Leos crosses with ease...he thrives on good service into the box.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Unfortunately, unless you are going to spend a sh1t load of money, the A-league teams are never going to get exactly what you want.

You got to cross your fingers a bit.

He doesn't look like he has scored since about September 2008.

And the tranmere have probably had over 50 games this season incl. cup games. So has he only played 9 of those? Maybe he has just been injurying prone this season, hopefully he is coming back from injury and is just about to come on form again.

He sure does know how to score goals. Just not sure what he has been doing the last 6months, maybe just out of favour like smeltz was.

If we build it, they will come...

You thinking of the same Leo? ABout 75% of his crosses (along with the rest of the team actually) went nowhere, that was one of our main problems last season IMO!

That vid certainly shows he has some quality. Good spotting from TP and RH, everything so far points to a very good signing. Still nothing mentioned on the Tranmere Rovers site. Maybe it's a bit more low-key for them...

He will have time and space.
