Can't really expect a lot of long term deals. Key players were signed on 3 year deals last season and in a salary capped league, you can't give them new deals every season. There are a number of 1 year deals on untested kids, who will get new deals if they perform.

I think we are in a pretty good state contract wise.

I wonder if Huysegems would be keent to resign for us.

Hopefully he gets a good run this year... I can image a few other A League clubs would try to poach him.

Not sure there would be a lot of interest in Waffles, unless he has a fantastic season.

Always got the impression Manny would be off back to Melbourne after this current deal, young family and business interests over there. Vinnie needs a big season, Ernie has already released him once.

If Manny rediscovers some of his form from 2010-11 when he was a machine and won player of the year & members' player of the year I'd definitely want him re-signed.

Lia will be goneski though.

Ifill will be gone as well...just turned 34. Would Ernie want a 35 yo outfield player next season?

I can see why there is a push to get lots of kids into the squad. Under Ricki there was little attempt to rejuvenate an old squad. Ernie really has a total overhall job to do.

Manny has been a starter at right back. IIRC he hasn't ever been an established A-league defensive mid, last season didn't prove that at all. Can't remember if he played much in the midfield earlier in his 'Nix career.

The problem with Manny and Lia is if they have a rubbish season and Lia gets released and Manny decides on Melbourne, it's not guaranteed that they would be picked up in Australia. Manny needs to perform this year or he might find his pro career over. Lia too.

He could well be a domestic player next season, so well worth re-signing if that is the case.

I think Manny still has the potential to be a quality DM for us, as long as he's playing alongside a more composed technical distributing DM. Not Lia obviously...

Ifill gone? No way. I can see him going another year and then taking up a coaching role with the FSE or something.

Yes please! More English accents please! I hate the Fox sports commentators and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

Although as long he plays all right this season I'd have him again, with a pay cut maybe... We'll need the money for completely redoing the midfield.

According to David Davutovic, Carlos is on a 1+1 deal. He was included on the FFA's uncontracted list.

No Justin, you have been here all preseason but we don't think you quite have what it takes despite all the minutes you have played and noted potential. We are not going to sign you but instead bring in this Aussie kid that has not played a lick and probably wont because there is a suspicion I may or may not be doing someone a favour and he has a cool nickname.
