Clearing out players only works if you can find better quality replacements, have a look at the list in the transfer thread and see what is available locally. If there isn't better players there, you have to find Aussie/Kiwis from overseas as we only have 2 visa spots to recruit with.

Roar brought in Broich, Paartalu, Franjic, Theo, JCS, Stefanutto & Matt Smith to replace the guys they dumped.

WSW signed 6 visas and recruited 4 former Socceroos, some of which were released by other A-League clubs early from their contracts to let them join.

Well yeah, but the point really is are the players we have coming off contract good enough to get us to where we want to get to.  If not, then you should be trying to find replacements!

That really stings. Obviously he had his reasons. Shame he can't get a proper farewell either

So Mr Morrison, just what are you and the board going to do about this? The cheap from within and another season of patheticness or go out and without breaking the bank, bring in 4 or 5 fresh youngish players looking for a challenge and a nice lifestyle??

Well they've only been around for a few seasons, they also finished ninth and fifth. They also have a lot more money than us.

Our only strategy for success is to build a team through our academies, recruit promising players, and a few top players.

The rumors are that City have offered Troisi a million a season, their three marquees next season are likely to be paid as much as our entire team, we can't compete with the spending of the big teams and so we have to play the patient game and assemble a squad over a few seasons.

i thought salary caps bought parity

Normal ones that aren't manipulated by the governing body - do work.

They need to scrap the salary cap as it stands now with all the exceptions and instead have a base cap and a luxury tax for overspending it like baseball. If City want to spend 10 million on their squad? Great, but they also have to give $2 million to the league to spread around the other teams.

Or like we did with Smeltz.

At least Cahill has achieved something in the EPL.

And achieved what in the A League in his season? This is what counts, not deeds of the past.

Hope all is ok with Tratt's family. Some shark is more important than football, as strange as that sounds

With a luxury tax they can still pay for Cahill, the FFA could even chip in with their marquee fund, but they'd have to pay for a third of his wages to the other teams.

It allows the big teams to spend whatever they want and also helps the smaller teams be more competitive.

Will CCM have a look at him - can Roux play on the left?

He will come cheap and clearly has potential - sad to see Tratt go.

No. We didn't. And Smeltz is old, slow, but still giving his best and not giving bs.

Jets always seem to rotate their RBs looking for an answer but think they have limited squad spots & other priorities.
CCM may look at him as a CB depth signing.
Sydney let him go already, so that is unlikely.
WSW may look at him as a Hamill replacement to add depth maybe but Risdon will be the starting RB.

Suspect he was signed during the back half of the season and its only just been announced now.

I'm okay with Lowry breaking the "no signings" rule, realistically another aleague club could come and swoop in for him since he's a young (and cheap) Aussie talent.

Bit different to someone like Lia who it's highly  unlikely will be signing for any other aleague club, and takes up a non-trivial amount of the cap.
