i can name atleast 10 people just off the top of my head i know who couldn't careless about the nix, yet were ready to top themselves when liverpool didnt  win the epl last year.

Can they point to Liverpool on a map?

Very disappointed with our figures considering the double header. I thought that might have brought in a few more st holders. Decent turnout at Weka Park too. Nice little ground.

Cant remember the figures but seem to recall from the meeting that memberships this season arnt far off from what they were last season. If my memory is working correctly that isnt to bad given how far we are out fron the start of the season.

Are we the only club that makes a distinction between season tickets and membership? It has occurred to me that our membership numbers are so low compared to other clubs simply because we that make that odd separation.

Being Liverpool supporters it's a pity they didn't.

If my memory serves me correctly, the club sold something like 125 "memberships" last year and 3500ish season passes. The seperation basically has no effect on the final figure.

seems like you may as well treat your ST holders like members rather than get an extra $30 out of 100 people.

Harsh.

So these top quality, potential Nix fans set their standards high..a bit narrow minded of them perhaps, but hardly cause to write them off. Habits of a lifetime are hard to break for many of us with long term football allegiances, whichever club we love..

Like LG says, its all about supporting our own local professional team too..even if you have to stand next to someone who's an LFC supporter! (We are everywhere..;)

Really? I checked here - link

DOn't assume all people who watch football on TV are potential Phoenix fans.  Some people just do not like watching live sport - it's odd but true

They've fixed this by calling them Premium Season Ticket and Season Ticket.

This seperate membership things has just been a total cluster fuck. It is confusing to some.

What the club should have done is have Season Ticker holders and then a seperate Supporters club.

The supporters club would be available for anyone world wide and give members discounts on souveiners, a 4 time per year magazine, stickers, magnet, internet type stuff, the face book and other media type stuff.

But all season ticket holders should have been given the same accesses to the stadium, its bar and foodstuffs, facebook and other media type stuff and discounts on purchasing more match tickets as well as  first chance to buy playoff tickets as well as the under the stadium parking for $10 as per last season. That was a real money saver as we used it every game.

Whilst not wishing to detract from the YF but this was created by fans for fans. The club have encouraged it because it saved them a job as a club.

Per haps I am wrong but just putting it out there.

Just noticed the streaker at the Rugby in Napier and what looks like our very own Marley being part of a group that tackled the female nudester.

I see Hansen has criticised Red Badge. Is it justified?  Did Marley cock up?

Did or was? Did he snatch her? Or did she gap it? Was it a close shave? The questions are endless.

He is at all the Red Badge events here in Napier. He was in the group but didn't make the [head-high] tackle. Was back on the sideline later huffing and puffing a bit, fitness not good lol. Actually it was quite good watching the crew employ a pincer movement to trap her. For my money, she could of run around all night, reasonably tidy I thought, can't beat those Flaxmere girls........

6 big guys onto a woman. Ok, its a nuisance when it happens but 6 onto 1. The ref should have given Marley a yellow card for the head high tackle.

It's been a few years since I've paid to go and watch a Wellington rugby game (Lions, Hurricanes). I've been a Nix convert for the last 3-4 years and given the current 0-8 record of this years Wellington Lions team, could we see a step change towards football this year with an increase in crowd numbers from disillusioned Wellington rugby fans giving the Nix a first look or even another try? Or will it be dependant on the Nix winning (early) this season, to build the base and then the casual fans will start to come along? I'd like to think if the Nix start well this season (win a few games) we will see new faces through the door to get the football experience.

Wellington Rugby Crowds have been down to bugger all for years. The Dompost exposed some time ago that the WRU were inflating the crowds by including season ticket and 15 year pass holders who had not attended the game into the match day crowd numbers..

Rugby clubs have or are considering merging as they are having trouble fielding senior teams and some clubs have disappeared i.e. Paekakariki the former club of All Blacks  Christian Cullen and Cowboy Shaw. The facilities are now operated by Paekakariki Football who have several teams

Numbers playing Rugby in Wellington have been reducing at an alarming rate whilst football, thanks greatly to The Nix, continues to grow in playing numbers.

So, to summarise, from that dataset and representation from August to January there is little or no impact from the results on crowd numbers, but down the stretch at the end of the season wins have a significant impact on the following games' crowd number compared to losses or draws.

Makes sense.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

People like to come after draws in January, but prefer wins in February.

And we have never played in August following a loss?

not a home loss. Should mention that first home attendances aren't counted in this as they have no home game before it (seemed silly took back to last season). I also took out the game vs Adelaide in season one as we only got a huge attendance to that because people got free tickets with the LA Galaxy game - seemed fair to treat it as an outlier.

imho it'll be a series of games with good form, home and away, that will build crowds.  Look at the 10k for the Melb game (which also had pretty reasonable weather that day) that followed a few good results iirc.  And then we farked that by getting smashed 0-5 by a team the form would have suggested we should beat, and played pretty crap.  That (plus the following results) lost the walk up crowd for the rest of the season.

If Sunday is like today, I'd hope for an extra large crowd.

Eithad was designed to have retractable seating that pulls out onto the field. We would have to knock down sections of the stadium to install them.
