Is it just me or was there not a single source in that entire article?!? I know it's the HoS but seriously.

the nz herald are a bunch of bastards who love rugby and hate football in NZ - no one connected to the nix should need to speak to them.

Now now don't get too excited some of you guys,  but a couple of word changes in a very witty original post, does not a victory make. Considering how upset she gets over a couple of harmless Wellington newspaper articles, I think she would start crying if I said something really nasty.

I'm proud to say that the Franklin County News has never printed a negative story about the 'Nix.

Or any story at all, for that matter....

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I must say, I'm less upset by a few articles in a newspaper than NP seems to be by a few posts on an internet forum. Also, still waiting on those eggs.

To be fair I thought Sam Worthington was pretty up beat, fair, balanced and put out a pretty good report in this story after the game versus Victory.

Herbert quiet on claims of late payment <!-- google_ad_section_end(name=storyline) --> SAM WORTHINGTON - The Dominion Post
Last updated 05:00 29/11/2010

Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert has declined to hose down a report that he is not being paid on time by Terry Serepisos.

A Herald on Sunday story yesterday claimed that Herbert had not been paid for several weeks as Phoenix owner Serepisos struggles to pay his bills.

Last Thursday, Herbert was asked by The New Zealand Herald if his payments had ever been late.

Herbert replied "no" but yesterday neither he nor Phoenix media manager John Mitchell would comment on the report, which said Herbert was comfortable with the situation because of his loyalty to Serepisos.

Interim Phoenix chief executive Nathan Greenham could not be reached for comment yesterday.

The Dominion Post revealed this month that the Inland Revenue Department has begun court action to liquidate five of Serepisos' companies, including Century City Football, which owns the Phoenix, over $3.58 million in unpaid taxes and penalties.

Among the money the tax department is seeking to recoup is unpaid Phoenix players' PAYE and KiwiSaver contributions. Concerns over Serepisos' financial stability are an unwelcome distraction for Herbert and the Phoenix, who are seventh in the A-League following their 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory at Westpac Stadium on Saturday night. They fly to Sydney today to prepare for a clash with Sydney FC on Wednesday night.

No mention of Tim Brown's goal celebration?

(BTW was that picked up by the sky commentators?)

Why would Herbert want to comment on the article when before it was even printed he had said "no" when asked if he had ever been paid late? It doesn't get much more definite than that.

And what's this goal celebration? I wasn't at the game so I have no idea what people are on about.

After Brown scored he ran to the corner flag and struck a pose. Then a couple other players were kneeling and pretending to take photos when two more come up to him with hands outstretched like microphones. He then waved them away and walked off. Then they all just just celebrated as usual.

And fwiw, the Sky commentators definitely didn't pick up on the celebration or what it was referring to, when I watched the replay the camera angle they used was pretty average because it was nearer pitch level and on the other side and you just got the backs of Ifill and someone else with their hands out.

The only new information in that article is that the Dom Post didn't get a comment from Ricki.

This is a brilliant new direction for news organisations to take - reporting on things that didn't happen today. The possibilities are endless!

Can we expect a "Why the Phoenix shouldn't take the piss out of us in their goal celebrations" article to appear in that publication any day now?

Sam or Johnathan will no doubt moan about it in their opinion section......on that i emailed my milmow directly about his piece the other day where he moaned about being shut out - his only response was to ask me to call him...I replied saying I had nothing more to say to him,

Only if (a) they saw it, which they would have to be at the ground to do; (b) they were clever enough to get the significance, which I doubt it unless they're reading this thread.
