Elrich - Not doing enough to warrant his place?

I wonder what Elrich's agent thinks about his client's form? After all he pushed hard to get him and some of the Brazilians here. This was also Elrich's chance to get back in the Socceroos...Lunatic, if you're out there, do you reckon season one's been a success? Will your man hang around longer? Is he enjoying his time running down the flank? Does he want to step it up next season? If not do you have any other tips for us as we enter transfer season and look to season two? Come on Mr Rallis, it's been a while...

I'd be happy if he practiced a few crosses or varied the same stock cross.  Its that final touch that's missing. He seems to let it go too early under pressure.  He's thinking, pass it while there's space.  I'm thinking, find the man or the path in front of that man.
His quality is in running it down field without losing it.  The penetration is a plus.
God knows he's created loads of chances.
I thought he was signing for the Mariners, back in September???

Best Elrich moment against Sydney - Moss clears over half-way, ball hits Elrich on the nut and goes out. Elrich turns and yells abuse at Kristian Rees

Couple of points:

(1) let's not make any assumptions about what Elrich is and isn't required to do on defence. He is the link man between the defence and attack on any fast break, that's his role and if he's defending inside the box that's not going to happen.

(2) Most people think it's 18 months before you fully recover pace and confidence from a major knee injury. Do we want to be the ones who've suffered the bad season and let another side reap the benefit, because undoubtedly he will be snapped up by another A-League side.

(3) He has however been pretty average and we should only keep him if we can move him out of the marquee role.

Valid points all, but I just don't see him as a team player, your example of him going nuts at Ree's is a good example, he's done that a few times this season and also his little tanty when he got subbed the other week.

I think if we're going to have a team that wins the A-League we need people who are going to put their body on the line for the team, and put the team ahead of themselves, I haven't seen Elrich as one of those players this season in my humble opinion.

From what I've seen I can understand why he was picked for a fulham in the English premier league (he has good positional sense, an understanding of the game and good technical skills) and why he was dropped (low work rate and a tendency to wait for the game to come to him).

He has the potential to add a lot to the Nix. But He is resting on his Marquet status. While he gets behind the opposition his crosses so far are not of the quality I'd expect of Marquet player. While I don't expect Beckham precision but I do expect a lot better than what he is delivering so far.

I've never seen anyone that can hit the defender so regularly with a cross. I admit he wins a lot of corners, so I guess thats positive, but we don't exactly threaten at corners very often.

Only two things could possible happen from here. The guy starts playing outrageously well and becomes a star, or he goes. Can't see him staying giving the same performances. The reason Sydney gave him so much space on the wing was because they knew they'd keep on getting hit by the ball evry time he tried to cross it. Show him what the bi-line looks like

Of course he's a loudmouth - he's Australian. But that doesn't mean he isn't a team player. Every team I've ever watched or played in had at least one loudmouth. As long as they are not disruptive to team morale on and/or off the field then the 'emotional' types are usually accommodated: "Oh, there goes Ahmed sounding off again, silly bugger".

To me Elrich's tantrums are partly his natural character, but also due to frustration. I believe he's covering up a lack of confidence at the moment, maybe because he realises he has lost his speed and therefore his ability to beat his man, outside or inside. Hard to accept for a winger of his undoubted skill.

would tend to aggree with that, his confidence is non existent and its plainly obvious in the game he plays. you might have thought that it would have been on a big climb after he scored his goal earlier in the season - but obviously flukes happen and in that case theres hope for us all!!
