Why would we have a Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura filter?

Why would we have a Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura filter?
Of course signing a player with a proven A League record, and who looked in better shape than I've ever seen him in a recent pic posted on here, was a ridculous idea. Obviously no other potential coach would want a quality player like that anywhere near our squad.
Well the guy appointing the coach agrees with me.
Quoting David Dome in the Herald: "Dome said they wanted to appoint a new coach shortly so the successful applicant could have a say in who would be on the roster for next year, as opposed to if they came on board in June or July when most of the squad would be inked."
He's going to be close to our highest paid player. Whether he is in good nick or not, or whether he is good enough or not, isn't really the point. I just find it odd that either Dome and other non-football staff are signing players, or they let Ricki commit to a player a couple of weeks before he was sacked. The manager needs to be the one signing players
Not ideal !! Flippin unreal !! What football club in the world picks the players for its coach.
Not what he said at all. I believe this is about the Hernandez signing? The one made while ricki was still in charge, before he resigned? Don't see the issue.
Hernandez is also a very good player, and one I'm sure any incoming coach would want. Again, don't see the problem.
Here’s an ambitious coach who is turning heads and looking to make his name in a higher profile league than he’s in at present – a youngish (41) Croatian coach called Bojan Hodak. He won the domestic treble with his team in Malaysia and also reached the quarter finals of the Asian Cup. The link to the newspaper article below makes references to the style of football being played by his team.

That didn't take long!
Edit: was referring to the promotion of candidates by first time posters...

Would you honestly have preferred that we miss out on Hernandez? You've taken the signing one one player (that I'm sure any coach would want) and taken it to be plural and as policy.
Fact is the signing was while we had our manager in charge. That manager then resigned.
Regardless, this is only the signing of ONE player, not a policy. Dome has even come out and said they want to sign a coach early enough so they can recruit their own players.
So from whatever angle I look at this, I cannot for the life of me see what your issue is?
Well even thought RH was the coach at the time, behind the scenes they probably knew what they were going to do with him at the end of the season (I assume he was going to go) so guess they felt this was so clear cut they should sign him anyway.
I guess the question is do I think that Hernandez is such a slam dunk that anyone would sign him. Fair question, my main issue really is that I'd like to have as much cap space available for a new coach coming in to make the decisions he wants.
We're only going to spend the cap, Sigmund, Muscat and Durante all got new deals fairly recently and there was definite interest from the Aussie clubs so I'm guessing they'll be on decent money. Ifill will be on decent money and so will Hernandez - that doesn't give the new guy an awful lot of room to move I would have thought, unless he's willing to sacrifice one of those guys. Personally, I would look at moving Muscat on if he is on the top tier of our salary bracket
With that in mind, while he's a good player, I would be reluctant to commit to Hernandez when there is an element of risk involved - taking into account his age, fitness issues etc. I think everyone is looking for some fairly major changes next season, I guess I just don't think it was the smartest move to tie whoever takes over up in this way. Not trying to be negative and I can understand to a certain degree why they signed him, and it absolutely could work out brilliantly, I'm just not sure it was the best move.
A lot of guesswork in there don't you think?
The main point of disagreement seems to be whether a former A league MVP who is only 31 and in a position we clearly need to fill, is a signing nearly any coach in the league would have made. I say yes.
I can see where you're coming from, but I don't agree.

at 31 he's hardly too old for the a-league, given his quality. And even with his fitness issues he still managed to be the MVP. I'm confident that Ricki and his team assessed or checked out Hernandez's fitness and were happy with what they saw. Any coach would be happy to have him. AS for the rest of the cap we have 6/7 players' contracts up come end of season - if we have a new coach by then he'll have plenty of spaces to fill with the players he wants.
Dont think Lampard example works to be honest.. kind of the opposite - they are choosing to not sign players up without a coach. If a new coach came in, he may actually still want to pick up lampard.
Also dont think this interim coach thing is as common around the world as it seems to be over here. Usually a new coach is found within weeks. Otherwise as suggested earlier, most clubs have a director of football or someone who is in charge of signings for the club.
Wonder if we could sign up some aussies who are currently overseas.. in a similar way to McKain.
I wont be surprised if guys like Bresciano, Valeri, Burns and even Kennedy come to the league in the next 2 seasons. Admittedly they are all more high profile than McKain though. But there probably are still a few decent aussies floating around in europe .. and theres also Carney lol

Hasn't updated with Gameiro, Lustica and Juric's loan moves yet.
Had no idea there were so many Aussies on the books of EPL/Championship clubs

No, but neither am I happy for all recruitment to freeze until the new coach is in place.
The club probably needs to take a couple of carefully considered risks on off-contract or new players just so we don't get left in the cold.

Very mature.
*shrug* about as mature as responding with "really?" To his statement.

I was surprised he did not realise how many Oz players were in the UK.
Unlike some, I was not trying to be smart.
