Anyone know what's happened to Stein?

Playing in the Belgian Second division for Dessel Sport.

Scored in the past three games for a team sitting in the lower half of the league.

He was/is at a level below the A-League. Seems to bang them in frequently

Fuck this stupid game

Better tackler and passer than Lia, much more attacking.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. You're comparing a squad player for a couple of seasons to a Hall of Famer here?! Outrageous!

Stein Huysegems'  history this season: Injured....came back after two months.....now injured again....

Got injured in his second game of the season on Nov. 18, came back on January 18, got injured again on February 28....and hasn't played since.

Only eight appearances in Dessel's 30 games (17 games since he signed for them in early November) so far this season in the Belgian Second Div.

Has scored four goals in his eight appearances though.

Stein's season stats:

Lucky the Nix didn't re-sign him....he'd been plagued by serious injuries before coming to NZ.

Roar. If we are talking about pre-season.

Kosta was minging and DMac scored a 20 yard screamer.

Ange coming off major failure with one of the national age group squads. Thought it was going that way too for the Roar at that point!

Lovemore did come off the bench in a HAL game; signed up on short term to cover AWs IIRC, as well as Clapham who didn't get off the bench. Not sure I saw the same from him as Valeo, easier to say now, but I recall a heavy touch and not too much to his game other than a bit of pace.

I would sign him again if he is a local. Not as an import though.

I think our ambitions have moved on from his level player but he could still do a job for the likes of CCM & Jets. Kinda hope he picks up a gig, he always came off as a good bloke just unlucky with the visa situation.

In terms of imports, I completely agree. In terms of an upgrade on Rufer, Ridenton and Hicks and being more a CM, then he would fit that bill. I was not a supporter of him when he was an import (I thought he was quite average) but as a local, I am not as adverse to him. I always believe that because there are only 5 import slots, they are valuable and you do not give them away to average talent and what can be a difference in the league. Your imports should be the 5 best players in the team.

It also seems like your squad players may as well be young guys (potentially from weenix/academy) with the potential to improve rather than an older guy who is about the same level.

He'll be a handy player for someone though.

I was never quite sure what he brought to the team; but hope he gets a gig somewhere.

Or at least one of them should be a decent LB/LWB.

After reading the Team Wellington ex-player profiles, I want to know what the retired players are up to!

Paston?

Tim Brown?

Any sightings of Tony Lochhead?

Tony Warner?

Paston works for Revera in Wellington and plays lunchtime indoor football down at the waterfront shed for their team

that's the type of information I'm looking for!

Next question - what is the lowest level of football a past or present Phoenix player is currently playing at?

Like, is anyone lurking in the Wellington local leagues...

Tim Brown has his shoe business Wool Runners, they raised 120k on Kickstarter.

Lochhead hasn't played professionally since Chivas USA were wound up at the end of last year. Warner played in Malta and then became a player/coach with Blackpool, Bolton, and Accrington Stanley. Joined Ricki Herbert's old ISL club NorthEast United at the start of this month.

Edit: And in terms of players in local Wellington comps, you can see Greenacre turning out for a Masters team.

Is this question a bit stalker-y?

Retired players are no longer professionals ...
