ex-Nix: Where/what are they now?
In regards to the effects the quakes had on our building industry - they have been massive. Every new build must now consider the likelihood of earthquakes with most foundations today being designed to allow for the probability of a major (1 in 500 year) event.
When it comes to building foundations, especially in liquefiable soils costs have skyrocketed since 2013 when the findings from 2011 came out. I personally think the costs are necessary if we want to have livable houses that last well into the future but some really do dislike us geotechnical people in the building industry. It does worry me that people are fickle and with successive governments saving costs and build times we may forget about how big 2011 was and revert to simpler foundations.
Have you been up in one of the big hotels that sways during an earthquake? I’ve heard that’s wild from a couple of people.
We had the top floor of a cute little 4 storey building in Tokyo and that was plenty. It even swayed a bit in the strong winds. Probably about my limit. Not sure I’d be keen on the 43rd floor or whatever!
Not surprised he resigned as MacArthur were obviously there for him when Lily passed and he probs feels at home with the club. Might be able to get him to be a local player at the end of that contract if it his body holds up well.

He is studying at University at the same time. So might be why he dropped down that low?
Steinmann's cub Drochtersen / Assel are 5th in their Regional league (North/Nord). No chance of promotion to the 3rd tier. Matti with 3 goals in 23 games.
Unfortunately he's in a different region to Hansa Rostock II (Nordost) otherwise he might come up against Sarpreet Singh the next few weeks, til season end.
Announcement video is very cringey, with the whole thing seeming like an excuse for some influencers to flex wealth on camera ("We're building a professional football club in 365 days!!")
I wonder if they'll go the distance?

Oxford win they are most likely into the promotion playoffs, with 1 regular season game left. If they make the playoffs they will play one of Derby County, Bolton Wanderers or Peterborough.
Oxford were 2nd when Buckingham arrived, but he seems to have done pretty well to keep them in the playoff hunt all season long.

sure its a bit naff, but if anyone was gonna have the money to create a club in a year it'd be some rich Saudi oil baron's kid!
Oxford travel to Exeter City next week, and will likely need some points from that game.
Also doesn’t Des (and by association Oxford) have his own thread?
What a year it has been for Charles Lokolingoy and it just keeps getting better and better! 🇦🇺🇮🇩

Geez- if we could have more than one keeper on the field we’d be a top team! Reckon we’ve got at least 5-6 very decent keepers and a few good ones behind them…

Just had a look at the season he played for us 2020/21.
In games he played in (came off the bench every time): 1 win, 4 draws, 4 losses for 0 goals and 0 assists.
In games he didn't play: 8 wins, 3 draws.
So we went undefeated when he didn't play!

Absolutely dominated the NYL at Sydney. Probably one of these guys who never developed the skills needed to cope when you are not the biggest/strongest kid on the park anymore.

Just like me and my tennis. I used to outrun all the shots. Now the properly trained 70 year old somethings beat me senseless on court when we are all standing still while playing.

The number of yellow cards was allegedly manipulated during games played against Melbourne Victory on Friday 24 November 2023 and Sydney FC on Saturday 9 December 2023.
Police executed a search warrant in South Coogee on Friday morning and arrested a 33-year-old man.
At the Parramatta address, detectives arrested a 27-year-old man.
In West Hoxton, detectives arrested a 32-year-old man.
Against sydney Yellows for:
Davila (33)
Lewis (27)
Hovar (21)
Baccus (32)
De Silva (27)
So you'd think its Davila and Baccus, with one of Lewis and De Silva. Uli is the only 33 year old in the squad.
Other Macarthur players that are the right age
32 - Kurto, Uskok
27 - Vujica
Pretty dissapointed that Uli is involved in this, he's always come across as a really top bloke. Fingers crossed that Clayton isn't involved.
ETA - Fudge now confirmed that Uli is the 33 year old. no confirmation on the 32 & 27 year old

Poor dude has had a rough few years! :(
Totally agree he has had a rough couple of years. But in professional sport this is beyond defence IMHO. Nothing short of life ban if guilty. It cannot be anything else, if only to deter others taking the same path.
9 news reporter tweeted he understands it's Ulises Davila, Clayton Lewis, and Kearyn Baccus.
