Oscar Z with two goals today. Still likely his team will get the toilet seat though.

Saw that, 4 goals in his last 4 games. Seems he's finally starting to adapt to the Eredivisie

Good to see - likeable guy who tries hard.

Even if his team does go down, a few more and another team may look at him.

Nasty injury for David Williams last night. That might be the end of his career sadly.

Good luck with your recovery David, congratulations once again on being appointed PFA executive, and in case this ACL means the end of his career, thanks for your contribution to not just the Phoenix, but the A-League as a whole.

Plus of course, thanks for being an absolute star in your one season stint with us.

Troy Hearfield remains a naughty boy

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/subscribe/news/1/?sourceCode=DTWEB_WRE170_a_RED&dest=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailytelegraph.com.au%2Ftruecrimeaustralia%2Fpolice-courts-nsw%2Ftroy-hearfield-jailed-for-stealing-boat-motor%2Fnews-story%2F575299cab7e8d3c69657dee18f4c1483&memtype=anonymous&mode=premium&v21=GROUPB-Segment-1-NOSCORE

Paywalled, so article text:

A two-time premiership-winning A-League star’s spectacular fall from grace has continued, as he landed behind bars for stealing and selling his landlord’s boat motor.

Troy Hearfield was once a star who played for Australia in its U20 and U23 squads, and participated in the Olyroos’ 2008 Beijing Olympics campaign.

He is now serving a minimum of four months’ imprisonment for larceny and disposing of a vessel part after flogging off his landlord’s $4000 boat motor.

Police facts tendered to Coffs Harbour District Court in December reveal Hearfield leased the victim’s Woolgoolga holiday home as his residence between June and October 2024.

Just weeks after Hearfield moved in, a second victim saw a Yamaha outboard 90 horsepower motor for sale for $3800 on Facebook Marketplace.

“The motor was being sold by Troy Hearfield who was posing under the Facebook profile ‘Matt Lowe’,” the police facts state.

The second victim arranged to collect the motor, but ultimately made a report to Coffs Harbour police when Hearfield failed to show up or return his deposit.

A few days later, the second victim received the motor with multiple parts missing or broken.

Hearfield’s follow-up promise to send the missing pieces was never fulfilled.

In late August, the landlord contacted Hearfield to inform him he would come to the home and “give the boat motor a run”.

“The first victim observed the motor wires had been cut upon the removal of the motor, and his Ryobi hand drill, which is supposed to be secured in the garden shed, sitting in the hull of the boat along with a number of other tools which are believed to have been used to remove the motor and don’t belong to him,” police facts state.

Hearfield denied the allegations and the landlord contacted police.

Forensic analysis revealed Hearfield’s fingerprints in two locations on the boat’s stern, and Hearfield ultimately admitted to providing the second victim with the Yamaha motor.

The former footballer pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment with a four month non-parole period after a sentence appeal at Coffs Harbour District Court.

The police fact sheet reveals Hearfield has multiple previous charges mostly related to drugs, breaking and entering, possessing stolen goods and driving.

The Tamworth-born right back made his professional football debut with the Newcastle Jets in 2007, and won the 2008 and 2012 premierships with the Jets and Central Coast Mariners respectively.

Hearfield parted ways with The Central Coast Mariners, and the A-League, after failing a mid-season drug test.

In November 2023, The Daily Telegraph reported Hearfield was jailed for a minimum of seven months for larceny, shoplifting, prohibited drug possession, and three counts of driving disqualified after stealing a Makita chainsaw and drill from Bunnings and “Atomic enhancing pills” worth $190 from a Port Macquarie adult store.

It's actually very sad. When drugs are involved, people just change completely. They lose touch with reality and do the silliest things to score a hit. I didn't realise he'd won two championships...that's insane, actually. Really hope he finds a way to get himself clean and out of this trajectory he's been on for quite some time.

I really thought he was underused by Ricki and was a decent player. But hey, he's chosen a disturbing road and route to go down. I hope he sorts his act out. I wonder what became of his back then "Model" girlfriend.

Zawada and Waalwijk have a good day conclusively winning against their wooden spoon competition Almere. Zawada with a yellow card and the 3rd goal as they win 4-1.

Zawada up to 6 goals, leading the scoring for Waalwijk.

Waalwijk have a difficult mountain to climb at 17th, with 16th 3 points and a game in hand ahead and 15th (and first non-relegation spot) is 7 points clear.

I wonder if he is far off getting a potential run for the national team. He is in good form, which is hard to have as a striker in a relegation threatened team (chances at a premium etc).

He should find a move to another team at the end of the season based on his recent run, should they get relegated.

Still plenty of points to be gained till the season ends (39) if they keep their winning form up they could creep above the relegation zone which increases Zawada's value but also his chance of staying in the top league.

Zawada and friends all over Matt Garbett’s soon to be ex- club Breda.
3-0 after 30 minutes Zawada with the 3rd.

Still very comfortably in the relegation zone, but they can only play each game as it comes. And recently it’s going pretty good!

5 - 0 win, Zwada with a brace.

9 goals in 19 matches is a good return for anyone at that level.

How long is their season? They have pulled themself out of last place and with a chance of staying up - 3 wins in a row!

12 more games. Requires this run to continue and another team or two to spiral.

Breda 1W, 1D & 3L since the season restarted post the winter break, and Garbett was frozen out. Losing 5-0 at lowly Waalwijk

Garbs might be having a quick chuckle. More so if this form slump takes Breda down into a relegation battle.

The league seems incredibly tight.
8 down to 14 separated by 2 points. 8th is in European contention and 14 is one place above the drop.

Breda and Hereven in 9th and 10th have a worse goal difference (-15) than 11th to 17th. That includes Walwijk on -14.

So it seems unlikely, but not impossible that Breda could fall into trouble.

Still it would take Walwijk 3 more wins, while their rivals lost 3 to get out of the relegation zone.

What are the chances 3 ex-nix players would all wear shirt number 88 at the same time?

Gary Hooper for a lot of his career but most recently at Barnet 23/24
Mandi Sosa wearing 88 as he went on to win the Gibraltar premier league 23/24
Matija Ljujic wearing 88 at Újpest FC for the last two seasons

Considering the connotations of 88 as a symbol, I hope they’ve all picked that shirt number for innocent/positive reasons!
