Strange move, would have thought someone would have picked him up in the A-League to be honest.

Probably being a little too harsh here, but he is by far and away several levels above the HKPL.

Glory were reportedly interested, depending on his wage demands. Hong Kong might actually pay more right now tbh.

Hopefully he's on a fair wicket! Great city, but hellishly expensive.

Lee Man are apparently one of the wealthier clubs over their too, and with a quick Google (not reliable, but we take what we can get here) it says they can fork out between 10-20k NZD a month. Not too shabby.

It’s becoming a little concerning for the league that these so called minor Asian leagues are now taking away A league players.

Japan, Korea and China, one could understand but Hong Kong.

A-League clubs are struggling financially (well most of them).

Short term, the quality of the league is gonna drop but long term, hopefully it means a lot more chances for younger players to stand out & move on to higher levels.

Poo, that's the opportunity to bring him home gone. I wish him well though, reuniting with Chiefy, discovering the HK culture, and sounds like he could still earn a decent amount despite playing in a league he's definitely too good for.

Another thing though is he unfortunately won't be in contention for the Bulgaria national team anymore, his most recent appearance was only towards the middle of last year.

On the surface of it, quite an oddball move. I appreciate Bulagria has had a bit of a fall from grace on the world footballing stage but surely they aren't going to be monitoring their players in the Hong Kong League? But then again, maybe he is just an oddball guy? I mean coming over to play for Wellington Phoenix age 25 after previosly being touted as a European kid "One to watch" in his youth would have ben an eyebrow raiser. I'm not sure what the highs and lows of his pre-Phoenix career were but perhaps he feels one of the highlights of his career to date was that finals run season under Chiefy and is open to trying to recapture some of that? I can imagine as a footballer there's nothing for your football quite like winning, and witnout going all the way, he did at least get his fair share of winning in that Chiefy Nix season.

Maybe a Mrs Smeltz move? Hong Kong is fairly glamorous and more connected to a bunch of places compared to Australasia.

Plus maybe he’s seen enough of Australasia?
