Depends if it's sold as an event with lots of footage of Palermo and Riquelme pulling some magic.

A bit of Palermo magic

If this happens I'll be stoked to be able to see one of my favourite clubs, although I'm not convinced NZ can pull together a quality crowd for this.

I'd be more interested in being able to meet the players TBH.
You know we belong together...

Who cares if they have any English players?Surely we're going to watch the Phoenix (who are at times hardly chock-full of New Zealanders).

That's what I don't understand - surely hating a team would mean that you would be more likely to go along and vigorously support the Phoenix?

true, would be great to see Phoenix waste Rangers. Although not sure if any Scottish teams will make it down this year. Think Celtic and Rangers are playing an exhibition "friendly" in Boston and Celtic is maybe playing Seattle

I think this could work. Just hope they don't overprice the tickets.

And personally, I'd much prefer Boca over a Wigan type english team.

Apparently Boca, Rangers and Blackburn are going to play a pre season tournament with Sydney. Would love Blackburn over here with Nelsen.

Got it on a fairly reliable that Boca Juniors on the 25th July. I'll be away unfortunately.

Only if they bring Palermo and Riquelme, would attract proper crowd. If they bring some bench/second team players, pure name of the team won't be enough in my view.

Really? I looked in the Straya forum & didn't see anything so posted there this morning.

Mind, I tend only to come here for AW info.

Wynton Rufer said the Singapore company that brought Boca here was hoping to get Arsenal and possibly Liverpool down here next year.

Hmm maybe take that with a grain of salt. would be good though.

Either would sell out no problems.

That would be awesome. I'd be surprised if it were both though.

There's definitely scope. If a team comes to Australia to play a game or two, New Zealand (Wellington) is a matter of a few hours away.

I heard a rumour about this earlier in the week, from the sounds of it they are quite close to sealing the deal. Probably why they have only now mentioned it in the media.

Wish they would announce when a deal is done, rather than getting hopes up and then nothing happens.  Game should be in Wellington.  It would be a slap for Wellington fans having to travel to see their team.

What if playing in Auckland meant they made a bigger profit and didn't have to take an extra league game away during the season?

I saw a post on the Phoenix facebook page pre season from the company who helped send them through India, which said "How many of you would like to see Liverpool play in Auckland?"  I'll try find it.

Pray God it won't be 'Wigan Athletics'.

I'll swap you a game against Perth for a game against Liverpool :)

And given Welnix's desire to make money over everything else i can see them wanting to do this in Auckland rather than here.
