I was between aisles 23-24 and there was a great group of guys standing at the top of aisle 24 who were starting chants and keeping us all nicely rarked up but holy crap I hate those red horns. Was the closest I've ever sat to the YF zone and  I loved the flags but also noticed there was a lot more clothing being worn than usual in the closing minutes

I got laughed at when during extra time i took one for the team, and donned the lucky headbandage.

People sitting around me laughed at me, until a min later Ifill slotted one away, and then not too long after Dadi sealed the game. I just pointed knowingly at the headbandage.

Now who's laughing... LOL

Are they the ones you left ebhind at the BB?
What are the odds of getting one down to the Nix training and getting it signed so we can put it on the wall?

Thanks to 'Pass the' Buckle.  I had a 7:00 AM wake-up call from Radio Live.

Greene is at work in body I believe, but his two word emails suggest not in mind.

A guy I know and don't like was bullsh*ting when Vickmeist asked him where he was sitting "aisle 25, my usual", bollocks, you've been 3 times in 3 seasons and the first time, you left halfway through for being too pissed.

Deffo lots of newbs, Cully was somewhat annoyed in a good nature way that we don't get enough time to get our own seats as season ticket holders.

Admittedly we do have a fine sponsor, good admin and a great selection of players, but three years on, would they all still be here if there wasn't a Yellow Fever.

Pat yourselves on the back. You are the difference

ditto.. you guys/[girls?] put a huge amount of effort into making the atmosphere the hottest ticket in town!  I hope you get the recognition you truly deserve 'Wellingtonians of the Year'??

Like another post, I felt the chants were a bit muted, but how proud were we to see the opposite aisles giving the Jest 'who are ya?' on their corners.. perhaps the rest of ROF was just louder this weekend - obviously never happened before..

Yeah.  It's a lot harder when the stadium, and in particularly the zone is packed.  We ended up with the normal core well spread out and a lot of people in the zone who don't know the words and some who weren't all that keen on getting involved.

It's the price you pay for fame.  Needs an elite fighting force in Sydney next week.

There is much angst about the same thing in Sydney last night as well.  We're a bit more 'meh' about it.

yep, aisle 36 i believe. The one they tried to start during extra time died a very quick and embarrassing death. It helped that most of us in aisle 33 refused to carry it on.

Honestly...Is the mexican wave not for when you are spanking a team 6-0 a.k.a gold coast...not when its extra time and the game is in the balance.

I had no problem with the wave. was rather cool how many people were prepared to take part in that and chanting. it all leads to a great atmosphere that will have newbs talking all week about what fun football is compared to other sporting events and that will hopefully lead to an even bigger spectator base at all games next year.

It was cool seeing frm young to old with face paint and from comments I overheard if there had been stalls set up doing that kind of thing round the station there wd have been even more people coming all coloured up

It was fr*ggin hot as well, which I think with us lot being spread out had an effect. I can't speak at all so I must have been doing some singing.

This (if it must be done at all).

Also "Where were you when were sh*t" is best saved for periods of the game when we're not actually being sh*t... doing it when 1-0 down and them on attack kind of undermines it.

...and finally.  Learn the tune to Stand up, or don't do it !!

Sorry, short on sleep.  Bit angsty.

Mexican Wave was harmless, looked impressive as it was going around. If it is other peoples thing who are we to stop them doing it.

Where were you when we were sh*t chant should only come out after they announce the crowd for me. Also while waiting in line outside for Red Badge to check bags.

Re: Stand up
- I was very surprised that the newbie crowd (myself included) knew to all stand up and the ground was on their feet within a matter of seconds!! Good stuff!! (I wasn't even aware it was a chant/instruction but just followed like a sheep).

Re: Who are ya?
- Can someone explain what the background to this is (is there even is one?)

And I explained the "We're here to watch the football" to my group (it was one of the more muted chants - as was "where were you when we were sh*t)

I thought the tune to Stand Up was by far and away the worst ever...I've given up on it ever being done right now (and have given up sitting down in protest).

I did have a wee leap of my heart when Junior Hotspur stood unprompted when it was 'sung' though.

A Mexican wave wouldn't have looked impressive with size of the crowd that game drew.  It really only looks good in big crowds.

It's a british chant from what I know. It's always been around for us, I remember an early post I made about shouting "who are ya?" to my cat.

Season 1 I recall us doing a "who are ya" to an opposition player being sent off, it went on for ages as he had to walk from the other side of the pitch to the tunnel and we kept it up the whole length of his journey. He looked destroyed. It was one of those moments that showed the YF as being something else. Can't remember the match or the player though.

Bah - I agree that we should have the proper tune for Stand Up, but at this point its not going to happen and what's wrong with making it our own version rather than sounding like the song it originated from? Originality ain't a bad thing y'know.

Still wondering where those other 2k people that paid for tickets and didn't come were, I mean with a beautiful day like that there's no excuse.

Best chant of the night "Where were you when we were sh*t??"

That annoys me a wee bit and smacks of snobbery. Who can blame people for not turning up when a team is sh*t? It is up to the club to provide the reason for people to turn up and watch. While its good that some of us turn up/support the club through thick and thin, not everyone does that or should feel obliged to do that. I think you are displaying a juvenile attitude to this and should be happy that people are now supporting the club even if it is because they are finally performing above expectations.

yes we are juvenile, but it's funny, funnier still when you know people are singing it and have only been going to matches for 5 minutes.

I've wanted to sing this at the last few matches but we've been in different places from our season seats and amongst a whole lot of unknowns so it wouldn't have gone down to well!

Edit: Re Stand Up - I think there was one game this season when it seemd that most people had the tune mostly right.  Probably on of those 7k matches
