Thanks for the pod!
Maybe he's an easy punchline, but are we bagging Hudson too much?
Isn't is possible that he's improved since he was the All Whites manager?
 His Wiki suggests he has
His Wiki suggests that he has trained with the X-Men, turned gay, and won at least three cheese-eating contests. At least, it will in about half an hour, give me a chance

Domey is aleays frank and upfront, passionate and committed to football in Wellington, sounds like the club is outting in bucket loads for the game in the region, across all levels - who knew that the under 14 boys nix squad carries a physio to all games? That kind of stuff is huge.
Seems like the owners are invested too - although there are limts to everything.

Reckon City can slip as well. They weren't that impressive towards the back end of the season and have been poor in pre-season.

great pod as always, agree with the discussion regarding the red, ref could have gone yellow and it might not have been upgraded, but the red was acceptable, but the 3 match ban is just ridiculous. As Zawada ups his minutes he is going to be a monster. Waine took advantage of Adelaide's lazy defence, but he still had to get there and make the shot at pace.

Kungfu panda should not listen to this, not enough Pennington applause.

great pod as always, I dont see Queen clips as the way to win famalies over, most of the kids would have no idea who the fudge Queen was. Marginals aren't watching the game anywhere!
If the announcer had done the music interludes earlier the crowd would have bought into it, it was a complete random thing. Made no sense, to ANYONE!

Would also be great if the announcer knew how to pronounce the home teams players names. First week is bad but to not practice and get it right second week is just disrespectful.
I hope the Nix can build a plan to grow crowds. But I think this takes effective community engagement and with the lack of preseason engagement (Explained by Domey), some questionable decisions and engagement from whomever is doing Social Media, and a price increase it is an uphill battle.

$40 at the gate. I appreciate the costs needed to rise as per Domey's explanation and it sure is a great incentive to buy a season ticket. Considering with the ST, you also get the Ladies games too.

BUT if you want to get a walk up crowd in, $40 for a Silver $89 for a Family (@ Adults & 2 kids)  is not the answer for the cheapest seats.

The Rugby charge a less and they have their own parking area now (Obviously, they figures out the Stadium Trust do not have fan's best interests at heart.) which is also a lot less than the $35 the Stadium Charlatan's are currently charging. That's why QBE, & Forsyth only charge $10 for parking - to drive fans away. NOT.

Oh that's right, The Stadium Trust is the Phoenix's friend and is really looking after fan's....Yeah right.

Rip off pricing on your cards only policy, I bet there's a 70 surcharge on each of those transactions too. Bring back cash as an alternative or get rid of the 2 Westpac Teller Machines. Waste of time having them there.

Times are tough for a lot of people and watching the Nix makes for a nice couple of hours, Just a shame it has been mishandled. Again, I can understand the Nix's point of view and that they have to really start from day 1 (2007) and rebuild the fan base back up. I wish them well. And yes, I'll make the next game too.

There used to be signs on the outside of the concourse outlets, above each of the tills saying which were card only & which still accepted cash. I'm pretty sure they are still there? I've been caught out a couple times in the past when the lines are long and you just join a queue. Fritz's is card only, something they should make more obvious given the line lengths.

The kind of points people have raised (less so on the parking) is why i disagree with Dave on whether or not the fever should be involve in discussions with the nix about fan engagement.
While the fever doesn’t have the mandate to talk for everyone, it’s much easier to engage with us than a family who hasn’t been  to a game yet.
I also see it having benefits for the fever in terms of growing number for itself as well.

love the discussion about the Jets game, ex nix players doing us dirty, particularly Sotirio......
Lewis/Ugarkovic needed to be subbed - we needed the gap stopper in there (Pennington - who can play the great pass, but struggles under the pressure of the a-league press and has limited support form his wide players).
If Uffie wants to play a 6 with two 8's he might need to change the shape and have 3 in the middle instead. (4 - 3 - 3)

What I find laughable is that the off season is several months long. It's like 5 months to put together a team and have it fit and ready, understanding each other, knowing what's expected of each player and gelling as a team.
Then come our first game there's all sorts of issues. Why do we always need til bloody Christmas to sort this team out and start getting results? Maybe it's a good thing UT will leave at the end of this season. He's been a good coach but still we never looked like remotely winning anything

yeah but most a-league teams havent got their full squad together for that 5 months, the players take a break and maybe back for a couple of months trainign etc, nothing is the same as actually playing a game, you can prepare as much as you want but until you have a fired up opposition you never know how ready you are. Or if the plan will even work. Supposedly the squad was the best prepared we've ever had - ie we havent had new players arriving the first week of the season, but you know it is what it is.

Nah, we hands down looked like the best team in the competition for most of 2019/20. We had a horrible start with 4 straight losses and fell apart after the covid shutdown, but we were absolute quality for most of the season.

Interesting selection calls.

Fact is we looked better in the cup than we have so far in the league.

We do have to consider that Kosta got the assist for Waine’s first goal, and combined well with him in the cup. He also hit a rocket of a shot against the Jets. He’s Ball-esque- not the most clinical in front of goal, but a handy player to have on the field.
I think I’d rather have Zawada as the impact player, as I think he and Waine are quite similar.

Who’s the Sotirio this season? We don’t really have a pacy supersub. Maybe Van Hattum? We are missing the ability to attack off the bench to the same degree imo.

Lewis maybe has played himself out of a start, but Ugarkovic has made some serious defensive mistakes. Happy for Ugarkovic/Pennington, but do we see the obviously desired Urgarkovic/Lewis ever working? And Rufer may be back in 3 games. What then? We’re just unsettled it seems.

Had been thinking before listening to the pod that we might be better using the 4-2-3-1 we had under Rudan.
During the pod it occurred to me that with the personnel we have, especially in attack, we might be better going with a 4-1-4-1.

great work team,
agree with the sentiments that for 35-40 minutes we looked like we cou;ld beat anyone, just a shame we cant put it together for the full 90 - it will come, i think Uffie is still working out what his best XI looks like. Ball will always be the first on the team sheet for mine! Sail looks a little nervy, I suspect it's down to not really trusting his defenders to do the job he needs them to do. We need to be more clinicla in front of goal, we should have had 2 in the first 15 minutes. It wkill come good, like everything it just takes time.

No, expensive car parking, rip off food and beverage prices. The only good thing about the stadium is that few people can make a lot of noise and it rolls around quite nicely. If it wasn't for the Black Caps doing well in the early 90's and the wrong anticipation that they were going to be successful for several years to come, the proper design should have been square with rounded corners and a roof for Rugby, League & Football. Concerts too would have been better.

Pushing to fill it for one dayer cricket, T20, Rugby - They got about 3,500 at the NPC Semi Final. When the stadium was first built, for the first 4 years there was a waiting list for Season Tickets and the place was full. Now, you buy the cheapest ticket you can and sit wherever you like. What has gone wrong with the dream?? PRICING.
