Fever zone - chants and rubbish

Today I was pretty appalled at some of the nonsense that was chanted from some of the supporters (usually one or two in total, however one was an influential forum member here), in particular in relation to the DJ who was playing music (hang the DJ, death to the DJ ... something along those lines) and the continual use of the word "c**t" when chanting to some of the Glory players. I've spoken to other casual fans following the game who were also disappointed at the crap that was chanted, mentioned similar occurred in Napier.

To be honest, aren't we better than this? I feel that this group is exceptional to be involved with on match day and make the footballing experience complete, but I think this is soured by what i've stated above and will stop a few casual fans from returning. I don't want to have to go to these games and be subjected to that type of abuse that is hurled out, and i'm sure others don't too.

Any chance we can be a bit more aware and think before we start yelling?

Cheers

Must be a ChCh thing?  Not so much in Wgtn at least.

I mean, we have the chant "You're whole team is ineffectual" as an example.

Yes those are harmless. But when the use of the C word is used, or music issue then it's different and over the top.

I am a season ticket in Welly and know what the atmosphere is like. Not usually like this. Just don't want to see it creep into the zone. Particularly when most was started by travelling YF.

Ah! Middle-aged men away from home is it? Can understand how that might happen.  But for the absence of shekels that could well have been me.

Kids, this is from Yahoo Answers:

How can you tell the difference between cocaine and sherbet?

Best Answer Voter's Choice

Sherbet is cold. Seriously take a bit on your finger and rub it on your gums,if your gums get numb it's coke.

What's the point in a forum if nothing is taken seriously.

OK, in all seriousness - it is a real turn off when lads get all lippy and rude wordy.

Only is noticeable on the rare Saturday evening games at RoF and it's mostly yoof.

Sorry mate, I do agree that the behaviour you described was appalling. Especially when there is kids around. Hopefully the person you speak of reads this and pulls his head in. Football suppporters do the most stupid things sometimes.

I won't lie, I got pretty drunk and used the F word a lot toward travis burns. Apologies (did make sure no kids were around though).

Sorry J82 is always out of line like this. But I do apologise. I swear only when I'm drinking, and when we're not winning, and when it make me feel bad, so I do it to boost my own self of steam. Again sorry m8.

Patrick should know better, he's a mod yeah

Think we are getting a bit precious.

There was no more foul language in today's zone than in Napier.

Chill.

Possibly because it was so deathly quiet you could hear all the words more clearly.

Also. Having music playing during the game. What the fing f???

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

not sure what was more depressing, the terrible music, or finding out a 4 pack at the stadium set me back $30 on my miserable student income.

Why didn't you tell them to shut it or talk to the security?

I have noticed more rowdy behavior when we play these 'away" home games. It's like the local lads need to prove something.

So who was the regular poster who made an arse of himself then?

I think it was Patrick - serious. He posted that it was him then moderated his comment into oblivion.

I've typed up my opinion in the other thread (What we're up to fever tour). I wont repost it all on here. Gonna watch the game again to see if I need to make any changes from my thoughts. Very disappointed to say the least & WTF was with the rugby music when there was a stoppage - ie, ball out of play? Fever Zone, you were hung out to dry by being put in a place with no roof, no atmosphere and blaring music drowning out any chance of being heard.

this was always going to happen on the travelling circus - the club wants play with great atmosphere right - then leave the games at wellington!!!

Generally at an away game (incl home but away) there is random chants done due to having stuff all people (ie we are ineffectual) and just wanting to have a giggle. To thought at the time going on about the music was a bit of overkill. It's not like they are going to hear you and stop playing it. Don't remember the C word but that's not necessary so whoever the potty mouth is should chill.

To be fair, as much as I love a travelling circus bashing, we created a great atmosphere at Napier (though the locals were either drunk idiots or dead silent)

After watching both sets of supporters on friday night at Heart v Wandertards I can honestly say we are a family friendly bunch in the Fever Zone. Yes there may be some unnecessary colourful language at times but on the whole we are quite reserved and controlled compared to other groups. Witnessed the Yarraside capo swearing over the megaphone on friday as well as some overzealous behaviour from the FFA favourite sons of West Sydney so im sure that we havent got a lo to be too concerned about.
