Just looking at the player ratings and got thinking about rating the performance of the Fever Zone yesterday.

3 out of 10. What was with the big silences first half?

As heard in aisle 24 - "I've been to louder funerals".
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. Thought we were quite good.

We are traditionally quiet during that period though,it is strange.

Agreed, first half was pants, too many quiet spells. Watching replay after confirmed it.

Second half was better though. Towards the end was a good buzz, only ruined by tuneless "stand up" as per usual.

Plenty of sporadic stuff, loved the "we love you siggie, cos you've got grey hair, we love you siggie cos you're everyone".....the depeche mode singalone takes a while to get going but worth the effort judging by the number joining in on the chorus!
Bring on the Roar!

I actually hate "come on Phoenix, come on Phoenix". It sounds like spoiled kids. The most de-motivating chant ever.

2nd in the league, no player performances to whine about, no coaching angst, big crowd, what to angst about...

I know let's critique ourselves.

Agree.  sh*t first half, good second.  Stand Up is slowly killing me.

I remember thinking you guys had gone a bit quiet then suddenly the Heart scored their first goal.

It's the tone, right? "COME ON, Phoenix!" -- just sounds like "what's wrong wiv ya, eh? Get your arse into gear!"

Love doo doo doo Durante - was the highlight of an otherwise rubbish game against the Glory and comes through the speakers well watching at home

We're all such brilliant readers of the game, we were depressed about their equaliser before it happened.

I would like to us do "RH Yellow army" on and on ... and on .... and on ... 10-15 minutes + non-stop (so enjoyed the continuous Just can't get enough efforts). It can be done although needs more than one doing the "calling".

As noted here, we came right in the 2nd half.

I know, I know, its serious!

It actually beggars belief that we could nail "I Just Can't Get Enough" pretty much straight away, and still be butchering "Go West" 5 years later.

Think people should just give up on trying to change the "Stand Up" chant.

Also noted lack of the Ricki Herbert's Yellow Army chant.

Once more people get the words to "Du-Du-Durante" it will be great.

Maybe it's the fact people don't like the "Go West" tune, as much as people on here have a woody over 'getting it right'?

Glad noone tried to start the 'where were you when we were sh*t'.  Hate that with a passion.

Were a few that tried that when the crowd was announced, lucky only a small number, and it died a quick death.

No, I think most people are by now used to how it's been (wrongly) done for the past 5 years, so it's hard to correct it. I blame Thommo, he started the monstrosity.

Hearing the chant delivered as "For the Phoenix, stand UP" absolutely sickens me as it sounds truly horrid, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

+1. Mostly because a large number of the people that chant is directed at were actually there.

Yellow Fever is pretty lame when Phoenix aren't ahead. Learn to be more supportive - who are you there for, the team or your own glory??

Interesting point considering that the complaints are about the period between us going 1 up and Heart equalising.

And probably the nervous realisation that 2nd place was on the line!

I'm sorry that you don't find us entertaining enough. Why don't you come and start something when you start to think we are 'lame'

Otherwise stfu.

Fair point, even though there was entertainment enough on the field.
Maybe save the deafening silence for when they play crap.

Needs frankie to come back and distribute song sheets and stand facing the zone as a chant leader.

We managed to take an extra 8 to the game, and regardless of the tune it was sung in the ONLY chant they ALL liked was "stand up", because it gave them some very obvious to do with out having to know the words.

One of my friends made the comment that even though it was a silly thought as everyone was chanting she felt self conscious about chanting herself.

So you may hate it but maybe we should keep it for a little longer as it is so very easy to do.

agree, it sounds god aweful to those of us who know what it should sound like, but at least it is a call to arms for the unis=nitiated, I thought we sounded great in the second half, first was a little tense perhaps???

Interesting observation. Our inhibitors can come to the fore. Is it a cultural inhibition perhaps?

(a) I admit I started to feel a tad self conscious when I started my "I've been to louderr funerals" chant. Was  a HUGE success - nobody joined in...       Was amused at the stares I got.
(b) Our Depeche Mode borrowing works according to my girlfriend. She is buzzing around the house right now singing it. Tuesday and has been humming it since Sunday evening...
(c) Second "stand up for the Phoenix" went on for a bit longer than usual and the syncoptaion of the clapping seemed to change form. Anyone able to expain what happened?

This debate has been done to death.  The moment they pull on a Phoenix strip they're not 'Aussies'.
