this really is a horrendous polo shirt

http://www.phoenixshop.co.nz/football-united/footb...

When you see the ugly coffee mug $20 gets you from there all of a sudden $40 for PPV seems like a steal.

$70 for a Newcastle shirt seems like a good deal though if you're into that sort of thing

Last Season's Toon shirts on sale for 11 GBP from club site, as opposed to the shirts from a couple of seasons ago, being sold for $70 on LQ. If you're into that sort of thing

Agree about the shirt, I think it  would have been much better to have the Phoenix vs West Ham and Phoenix vs Newcastle polo shirts and scarves.
Tickets? Tickets? We talkin’ about tickets?

I reckon this one is quite nice, well apart from the Football United logo. Maybe a white version would make for a pretty decent away kit also.

And the Phoenix find the only possible way for me to feel less excited about the double header:

English Premier League teams and fans will be treated to a true taste of Kiwi when New Zealand entertainers, The Topp Twins host the Football United Tour’s double –header at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium on July 26th

http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/wellingtonphoe...

The cringe will be running high:

"The twins, Linda and Jools will be in their “Ken & Ken” characters as well as “Camp Mother and Camp Leader” as they conduct spot interviews, sing to the crowd and provide an alternative ‘commentary’ to the ‘beautiful game”."

Thank god people are buying tickets for the football rather than the presenters.

can't wait to hear about their views on sokka games, will probably end the show with 'pick up the ball and run with it'.

I'd pay the ticket price and then some to not have the Topp Twins there.

I used to work in a CD and DVD store and I don't think the middle-aged, middle-NZ women who were by far and away the biggest buyers of their DVDs off us are the Nix's target market at all.

Needs more Jeremy Wells...

Just in case any tourists from the UK or the West Island are in any doubt that NZ is stuck in the 70's, we're gonna roll out the Topp Twins just to ram the point home.

If we have a #PhoenixFacepalm award at next years #YFhui - this is entry numero uno!

What's the problem? Not a huge fan of their work, but New Zealand football has a big gay woman contingent, like whatsername who just got the country's first gay divorce.

It's a cunning plan. Have them "perform" between games and they will sell a lot more food and beverages as everyone makes their way to the concourse.

Who doesn't go to a major football game because of the off-field entertainment?

It's got nothing to do with them being gay and everything to do with their painfully dated humour. I don't think that gay woman footballers will think the Topp Twins are funny just because they're gay. It's not like every straight man thinks Rob Schneider is funny because he's straight. From my personal experience, the type of people who are Topp Twins fans actually generally seem to be quite socially conservative and more likely to be stereotypically old school NZers - meat and veg, rugby and netball type of thing

How the hell do the Top Twins fit with promoting the vibrant sport that is Football???

New Zealand has been plagued by very unfunny comics/comedy shows for years now. From the Top Twins and Billy T to that good awful 7 days, Bro town (f*cking awful, eye-gouging material).

So yeah we are not awash with talent but christ there are some bright lights, our own Mr Moore, Flight of the Conchords, etc. I would rather they had looked at Joseph or some of his peers, (think he might still be in Scotland though), then trawling out the horribly dated Top Twins.

How to make us look like and even worst bunch of friggin yokels.

I guess Gareth thinks he is entertaining the Phoenix pathetic and unsophisticated yokel fans.

Its not that their gay, its that we want to watch football not be embarrassed by cringeworthy singing and interviews. Put on some music if you really want to, this sounds awful. I think Id rather be waiting in the queue half hour for chips

I think Doloras was being sarky.

Jeez how bad is this? Sort of puts the whole Active Supporters Zone into some sort of perspective....

Their sexuality isn't the issue. their lack of talent is. There is also the fact that: 1. They have no relevance to football and I strongly suspect that they know bugger all about the game 2. They're shit 3. Any visiting fans will be gobsmacked at what we are presenting as pre-match "entertainment". Huge embarrasment factor. 4. They're shit. It's all a cunning plan by SKy to push up the PPV numbers.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
