The Phoenix, the Fever and DC United get mightily pissed off.

I care....I don't want it to be only 6 weeks of winning...then we get too big for our boots (excuse the pun) and he leaves and well you know the rest!!

But think of all the skills and tactics our players will have learned from him...

Also, as for only 6 weeks of winning? I mean if we win 6 in a row from now on, we'll have 30 points with 4 games to go, which would make the playoffs a reality.

Fred manages to do that, he deserves the keys to this town.

Not to mention the confidence we will play with, lets hope it won't leave when he leaves because if it doesn't...

They called Fred a woolen turncoat.

I'm surprised Melbourne Victory didn't run straight to the FFA and try to block the transfer like they do when anything else goes against them!

and the Nix are still second to the outsiders (PERTH) with Centrebet to make the top 4. Easy $6.

I'm hoping that after 6 weeks and he goes, we'll be on a roll, confidence up and marching to the playoffs!!

If the weather is good next weekend, we'll be back to 10,000 plus at ROF

Great signing.

Tony P, even if you aren't commenting I know you are reading these comments, and I implore you to try and get Fred as marquee for next season, unlikely though it is.

The only worrying thought is that there was similar fanfare when David Mulligan arrived and he flopped.  Having said that, Fred is proven at A-League level.

Bit lopsided comparing Mulligan to Fred

I actually had a guy tell me (very drunkenly) that this would happen three weeks ago exactly. Didn't believe him cos absolutley no one else had even mentioned it on here, yet here we are. Hope he can spark us.

Absolutely terrific player and this completely came out of left field but a 6 game stint? Is he really going to have enough time to make an impact? And if he does wont our morale go down when he leaves?

I loved watching him every game at the TD/Olympic Park when he was playing for Melbourne, though. You could tell he was a step above most. I do think that the A-League has improved a lot since then though and that he probably wont have as big an impact.

Cool..but doint pait him with Daniel..just take out one non attacking midfielder and let him strut his stuff..we dont 1 2s and backheels all over the place just Fred at work.

And to market it get Fred cutouts carried around town or at major intersections linking him to his debut against the Jets and get the people coming back in to watch...

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Thats got to be the signing of the season.

Melbourne already has their Marquee player for the season, so they can't complain about him being a turncoat or whatever.

So if we welcome Fred and make a welcoming experience for him, then he may guest star for us again next season.

Big test for Ricki .......... hope you get a big crowd to watch him ...... also he will be closely marked and thereby open up space for others ...... top 4 spot possible with Fred ..... an excellent catch well done to  Nix's management.

Fred. What a brilliant marquee signing. Excellent work by Phoenix management to nab him.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah he is now, but I don't know who was when Fred was their. It probably was Thompson.

Thompson has always been the Victory marquee, they should have swopped over to Fred in an effort to retain him. Actually it would be good if every side had two marquee slots to avoid this in future. Maybe a local and an international marquee each.
