woohoo

C'mon Terry

He also said in v2 that he wanted to stay at Victory and qualify to play for Oz, so don't get too excited.

Good to see Gao gone, hope it doesn't turn into another George incident where he tries for severance money.  I assume we ditched him now rather than just relegating him to the reserves because we wanted to free up some money for other impending transfers?

Can't wait to see Fred in action though... "We've got the best player in the league!"

different sort of player really, more of a creator instead of finisher. If we weren't so scant on strikers I'd prefer Fred though

from the Dom - can someone confirm he has two yrs on his contract?

Fred is in Wellington for only six matches, though a return in the future is not being ruled out at this stage. He has two years to run on his contract in Washington DC.

Signed a 4 year deal when he left Melbourne.

Signed a 4 year deal when he left Melbourne.

Signed a two year deal with 2x yearly extention options...  Suspect DC will renew for the coming season though.

We shouldn't get our hopes up that Fred will come to Wellington long term. Why? He hates the wind. And the cold. Note his comments in the Dom story this morning.

His first impression of the Kiwi capital was enduring, though not for the right reason. A typically unkind landing into a howling northerly gave him, Debora and baby daughter Eduarda a fright.
"Oh my gosh. I was so scared, me and my wife.
"I don't like the wind, it's too much and a little bit cold, but I don't worry about this. I just have to play and do a good job."

Fred may like the A-League, but his wife loves Australia, so IMO someone over the ditch will get him when he's done in the US.

I hear the Gold Coast is nice and warm. And no howling wind. I'm sure he'll check it out with Smeltzy when the time comes.

It does get pretty cold in Melbourne too :P (not anything like the Welly wind though)

But yeah he wont come here for any longer. Pretty certain really - unless Welly puts on good weather for the next few weeks. (hhahah)

Had to laugh there..

Agree that if he comes back to the A-League, which seems very likely given how much he enjoyed it, He'll go somewhere in Oz

IF he did Return to A-league, I assume it would be in Auz with his wife nagging him to go back to Australia, not NZ. Unfortunately GCU would make sense.

Durante talking about Fred......

"He's got the Brazilian flair but he's also very much a team player and a guy who works very hard for, well, a Brazilian."

That's Australian for "Daniel's a lazy c**t"

Do you realise there is a salary cap? They can't have everyone they want and Porter, Smeltz and Fred would be way too expensive without mentioning their other players they have already.

Last year's A-League import of the season?
You just haven't been watching him closely enough.

fair call Bevan,

hopefully all the Gao whiners (justified though they might have been in that case) won't turn their strange need to sl*g off our players onto Daniel
