well said, as for formation, I think what we used in Sydney could still work, just replace one of McKain, Brown and Ferrante with Fred and we'll opefully have that extra creativity/flair we need in the middle of the park. Leo and Hearfield/Daniel can provide the width and support to Smeltz up front.
You know we belong together...

i can't remember, did we get this excited when we signed El**ch last season ?? just with all the fallout over his stay at the club, i don't know if we should put Fred (who is a fantastic player)on such a high mantle untill he gets down to business and delivers on the field.

Agree it'll be a great buzz for the few weeks he's here. We all need buckets of buzz.

But let's keep it in perspective. Fred's only here on loan.

And it doesn't solve our most urgent problem.

Finding a couple (make that three), quality strikers for next season.

Torne, I realise I was slightly off topic, but my comment was really just a little reality-check putting Fred's signing into some sort of perspective. Keeping our feet on the ground. Sprigs in the turf. Elbow in the other guy's back. etc...

I reality it will take Fred a while to settle into a new team. He arrives Monday and his first game is Sunday.....not long to gel.

I sure hope people cut him some slack. I can see the headlines now......." Fred  Flops" if he has a quiet game or if the Phoenix lose. He is a great signing.....but he is only one player. The rest of the team will have to lift their game as well.

Still, this the most exciting thing to happen this season. You get the feeling the Phoenix are suffering from the second year blues. Things have been a little flat since the season opened with such expectation. A big win Sunday with Fred the star would go a long way to reving things up again!!!!

A question.....where/when do the Phoenix train....love to see Fred first traing run?

Agree with you on that, think i will wait to see what he delivers on the park.Oh yes and everyone did get excited but that turned when he was always stood at the front of the queue for pies.
Probably also a good move by the Phoenix management when it comes to getting some strikers as it shows possible targets that the club is serious about winning.

yeah, agreed, we have to keep it in perspective.. its great but its only a step into making bigger things happen for the club in terms of standings,

im sure however that even if he doesnt spark, he will lift the calibre of the whole team which should give us a chance against melbourne and adelaide, two sides that are really above our league.

Torne, one question: what's a polite fellow like you doing on a site like this?
Let's call it a draw and go have a beer.

I hate DCU but this is a good pick up. He's a very solid player down there for united, he had a kinda mediocre year but he's still a nice get.

Link-up between Mid and attack, but seems to cover the park well. Of course haven't seen him out of youtube since a few of the Melbs games I watched in v2, so CrewUltra or any other MLS fans would have a more recent view. As someone mentioned earlier all the DC clips of him seem to show him drifting in from the left much like Ronaldinho likes to do. Oska2008-11-16 15:22:31
