So, since a few of the new strips have been launched already, does anyone know if we are using the opportunity of this game to launch our new strip?

No - Newsletter a while back said it would be released around the time of the shop opening.

I hope not - wouldn't be fair to not give the home fans a chance to see it first

I will take my video camera along, but can't make any promises, cos I'm there as a fan, not a cameraman!

looks like they are struggling for players. Do Cap Prem suspensions apply to A-Lg pre-season friendlies?

What the hell is going on? Is Putter's glass-like nature contagious?

It shouldn't be as they are different. One is a local competition by the capital football and the other is a friendly under no competition. So anyone in YF under red card suspension to fill in the benches? Feverish?? AllWhitebelievr2009-06-26 13:23:38

Ricki Herbert said he had "no idea what the team is going to be at all".

Two words - Pog Mahoney's. Irish bar on Steamers Wharf. I didn't spill a drop tyvm

Oh and the article was a last minute idea by the event organiser to help promote the match. So not my fault

Pitch is looking good and grandstand is sold out. Pretty much finalised the Fever Zone plans today. We're right next to the bar...no words on if they sell stout or not

Don't be silly.
I would like nothing more than for the Nix to kick some butt.
It called freedom of speech, and if Ricki didn't dribble so much I wouldn't comment.
So Ok if your happy to roll over and take the cr*p he dishes out.
I expect more than you, thats all.

AusKiwi...
YOU're just being negative and concentrating on comments that apply to your own theories ala Joe Karam.
The guy is too honest for his own good.. leaves himself wide open..
He has been unable to be in two places and is counting on Trani and Gould to do the work..
Is that silly enough.. ps I like our debates..

By the way most messages are typed quickly because we should be doing work, your is quicker than you're pedantic..

I read an article in my old local paper Hawkes Bay Today and it said that Joachim Rande a 19 year old Soloman Island striker playing For Maycenvale in Hawkes Bay has been training with the phoenix this week and is travelling to Queenstown with the team.He was invited by Johnathon Gould and may get a run if they are that short.

maybe rickie might have to get his boots out of the garage.....

Shame really....what was shaping up as a show case game has turned into a bit of a farce!

if Melbourne are motivated we could be in for a trashing....

agreed ae, it would have been a good match, it should've been near to a full strength team but it is far from that. does any one know if melbourne are at full strength?

Well at least we get to try out a few players who maybe wouldn't of had a go.
Just what the games made for.
The no shows of Putter and Greenacre will be disappointing.
I hope no show is not prophetic and they fire.
Certainly loads of potential for them in this league, considering the cumbersome A league defenses and Smeltz going so well last year and I don't think he's that good.
Will be interesting to get some feedback on what tactical approach Ricki takes with what he's got to work with.

Not full strength, the only two we're missing from our starting XI are Celeski and Sukha though.

Both our spare strikers didn't make the trip and Fatty Hernandez still isn't match fit, but it should be a fairly strong squad.

Chris Greenacre (not ready), Tony Lochhead (ill), Andrew Durante (ill), Leo Bertos (toe), Michael Ferrante (Achilles), and Jon McKain (thigh), while question marks hang over Ben Sigmund and Daniel.

Trialling Dutch striker Eddy Putter, a free agent released by Dutch club FC Dordrecht, is also sidelined with an ankle injury.

Ok assuming all these players are out. What is a sound starting 11? If McKain, Siggy AND Durante are out, then what the hell will happen for CB?? Outlines my call for a youth in that role..
And will Rojas be playing? I don't know If he will be so I will make this lineup without him:

          Paston
Lia  Muscat  Christie    Mulligan
Hearfield   Brown   Diego   ?Rojas?
       Costa   ?CROWTHER?

OK please let Siggy and Daniel be fit - otherwise WTF!!!!????

Guess its going to be trialist throughout the field and on the bench  prrobably with that Rande guy up front? Although I was thinking Crowthers big enough for a taretman and he has played English footy, must be good lol

But in all seriousness, what the hell. Even with Siggy in that Backline, we will still be weak. as hell.

What other options do we have?
