Our game is scheduled to finish at 4:45pm, which means nearer 5:15pm in reality.

I'm in at the Travelodge, have a spare bed for Coops with breakfast included for both of us for $120.

Here's an array of accommodation options that weekend....

Ah well you may just have to do without my silky defensive skills that Saturday Mike!
I will help with the set up though.
I thought you would be taking the Summer League helicopter to Palmerston?

Is Ginger booked to ref that day?

I am thinking of hiring a car with a mate; we would have at least 2 seats free.

Is it worth staying in Palmy for the night though?
- I'm not convinced there's anything to do there.

Topping yourself is always an option in Palmy.

Depends on the result on the night.

There is a place called Mt Cleese that you could go to do that.

It's getting difficult isn't it? Pete does not have any slack weekends set aside for postponements, so I suspect we're going to be facing shortened games, morning kick-offs as soon as Team Welly have vacated the pitch and potential forfeits for the final fixture.... smeg!

Shame YF couldn't arrange a train special from Wellington... The Silver Fern is just sitting in the yard for that very reason.

Talked to several people who were stuck  in a tunnel on the way to the All Whites game when the train broke down coming from Kapiti, they all made it to the game but only just!!
I wouldn't want to  risk it ,the rolling stock is a joke  and an old joke at that!!

Join  the Ed bar express leaving Newtown lunch time on match day coming back Sunday!

We're probably gonna drive up earlier to sort out a park etc, but as soon as we get out of the stadium we'll be out of town and back to Welly as quick as possible.
You know we belong together...

I was on that train, we were f**king spewing by the time it got to 7:35 and we still weren't moving - stuck in a tunnel packed in like sardines.  Caught the 6 to be there at 7, grab a drink, have some food, watch the teams warm up and soak up the atmosphere.  Instead we had to boot it to our seats when we arrived squeeze through the throng and arrive just in time to see the players come out.

Its no surprise it broke down, they were using carriages from 1954

Unlike me ,I'm checking out all theflesh pots and  hot beds of sin and depravity that Palmerston North has to offer ,the good time dance hall girls ,illicit liquor halls ,underground casinos just try and  stop me cruising the neon lit  streets of temptation  that are  Palmy!!
Well once that 15 minutes is used up I will probably head back to the motel for some late night infomercials!!

We (exec) were talking about this ticket swapping thread the other night and we think it's sh1t.

Love the fact that people are trying to be helpful, BUT, if you're lending your ticket on here you are probably lending it to someone who will go anyway.  So all you are doing is cheating the club of money it desperately needs.

Our suggestion is that if you borrow someone's ticket off here for the ChCh game then you are DUTY BOUND as a member of the Fever to take someone else who pays.

Sound fair?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

ChCh may not be far relative to say Perf coming here, but the airfares are not exactly encouraging.  Must be a few hardcore YFers who have snaffled up all the cheap tickets (family return would cost over $1000, plus accomodation and transport).

Palmy is a two hour drive up the road - no probs there.

That two hour drive is also a problem if you normally only have an hour or less to get there. I don't like Saturday games much because it's always such a rush, so a Saturday game in Palmy =

Correct - I had a look at the airfares a couple of weeks ago and pretty much ruled myself out of the trip unless I do the ferry + bus option which is the cheapest.

$300 + on flights to Chch is just not worth it IMO when you can normally get it for about $100 return.

So just to clarify, for the 'away' home games, if I have a season pass will I need to go to a ticketek place and get a paper ticket?

I was on that train and was raging internally like I've never done before.  If we'd been late I would've started a one man riot.

By the way, I live in Christchurch and will be going to the game here.  I have a few friends who will probably go and others who are on the fence, so any free tickets would be great*.  I spoke to a few the other day and they said they weren't happy with shedding $10 for the pre-season game vs Mainland that was pretty boring, so a free ticket would be good for them.

*Rest assured the tickets would go to those less committed.  I'd pay for my own ticket.

If someone could PM me that would be great.
