Could try Brown or McKain as improvised target men.  Not quite towering blokes, but both of them are strong and have some aerial ability.

Harnwell managed it I suppose.

But still, I hope that never, ever, ever happens.*

*By that I mean I trust we'd explore many other avenues before resorting to this.

agree, why not try tim brown i dont think he is a holding midfielder and seems to have the physicality to play up front and that would allow lia and mckain to play in midfield...

brown would be interesting. however all his goals do mostly come from late runs into the box form the midfield, and not being picked up...it would be an interesting move to try him up front with Greenacre. Certainly be combative...Mckain in midfield if he goes for it...but Brown/Greenace with Ifill and Bertos would be intersting, if makeshift...

would be a vote for a team with the least step overs in the history of....

brown has one of the worst shots in the league. both his goals were headers and hes missed 5 sitters at least. its either costa, chen or terry get the chequebook out

How about we continue to play the way we have been but we get our midfield right and take our chances?

McGlinchey. We missed out on a beaut there. I would play Ifill up front still as he can be more of a target man than Chen or Costa. And i would play Costa out wide as his pace can get in behind the fullback. With Greenacre we basically have 3 strikers out there so we really SHOULD score. Would not want to see Brown up front as his finishing has been poor all season.

If Ifill plays upfront then he actually has to stay there, and resist the urge to drop back.

Seriously its not the first of April surely? Tim Brown describes himself as a dirty midfielder, who does the physical stuff. He knows he's not very skilful or an attacking player but he gets the job done. Playing him at striker would be an absolute joke.

Never ever going to happen.

no an absolute joke in that case would be him scoring the only goal in the last 3 games....be nice to have someone up front who gets the job done, ruffles the defence and maybe creates some space for Greenacre...heck i'm bored and looking for answers...when you say costa or chen i'm not convinced...though something has to change...possibly even the current combo working...

                       Paston
Muscat    Durante    Sigmund     Lochhead

                 Lia        Brown
Bertos                                Ifill

              Greenacre     Costa

That's assuming McKain's still injured.  I think Ricki's pissed Costa round for far too long and given a reasonable chance he and Greenacre could do alright, especially with Ifill and Bertos staying behind them and setting up chances.

Note: Lia will have to play like an absolute savage, defuse all opposition attacks.

This for line-up vs GCU and as a way to try and improve Greenacre's game.

I dont mind Costa starting - and i used to be one to beg for Ricki to keep playing him, but he hasnt really been too impressive yet for me.  I think we need to utilise Caceres/ Diego and hope they can fufill theyre worth in behind Greenacre.

Costa has had very few chances, but in one of them he scored a more than reasonable goal.  Plus, we need to mix things up up front because how it currently is isn't working so all the more reason to play him.  With Chen on the bench.

Who are the best team for him? Man united? Arsenal? Chelski? Man City? Melbourne Victory? CCM?

That's flawed. I don't think he is the saviour,  but i do believe he will become something special.

How many time shave you seen Costa play? Bar from the few times for the nix..

you did not read my whole post did you ?

he is not getting any game time with the Wellington Phoenix.

he needs regular football.

Herbert is screwing him around a bit so imo he should go to an AUS state league club or at least the NZFC.

Yea, I'm sure Costa HATES Ricki for giving him a full time job and he'd much rather play in the NZFC.

Well, in as much as I can, I do agree to an extent with the rather easily excitable whooooooooooooooo (etc).

Costa needs more game time (as does Marco) which a youth team would provide.

But he isn't being mucked around - he just has to show that he offers something better than the incumbents (which he can't do unless he gets more game time, which he won't get because, yada yada yada).

hmmm, maybe swap them at halftime?
I have no idea who would want to come here mate but im sure someone can start a new rumour
My point is if what we have doesnt work and the majority now seem to bag costa with chen unproven it is the only solution.

Well, I took Greenacre out of my Fantasy team so he'll probably start banging them in now ...

The suggestion for improvised target men was not entirely serious.  However, in that people gave it a second look... If it's worth contemplating moving Brown or McKain out position, perhaps it would be ok to ask Bertos and Ifill to modify their game a wee bit and play the ball to Greenacre's feet?

Dadi from the glory. He cant get a game over there and  he is a good target man even though hes a bit old. Would need a release though from the glory.

Hell. No.

He's fat, he's old and he dives and wines like a bitch.  Fits in perfectly with the new look Perth, leave him there.

I couldnt give a toss if hes fat, hes old or dives, only thing matters if he can score goals. He managed 10 goals last season though. Smeltz got 12 so Dadi's tally was quite impressive. But yes agree hes old so wouldnt want him at the club for long term but could be useful short term. But dont think it would happen anyway,

greenacre at his best tonight, scored whilst beating two monsters off the ball. He held the ball well and laid the passes out as well
