There's a difference between 'knocking' a player, and saying that he isn't as good as another player. People suggested that if he were at the Nix, he would be pushing Lochhead for the starting spot, and I said that he isn't close to pushing Lochhhead, yet. Did I say that he was a crap player? No.

If you think that just because you are a ACFC supporter your opinions are considered worthless by everyone on here, then think again. I have no problem with your opinions on the matter, in fact I like hearing opinions from a different angle. What I don't like is being told that because I am not from Auckland, that I am not allowed to express my own opinion of an Auckland based player, playing for a team that I actually support and follow quite closely.

Patrick i am not an ACFC supporter and infact far from it. I do however pay $10 to go watch not only them but visiting teams as theres not alot of football to up here at the moment. I just came on because i feel the lad deserves fair treatment. One user said he couldnt even make the reserve team and for reasons they falsely presented to back up their opinion on him. Many opinions that ive read over time not just on Hogg but many others, arent based on their ability and more for other reasons. I hope Hogg goes on to another professional club but im sure when he does the knockers will be out in force.

in my opinion Hogg > Rowe > Lochead based on recent times and what theyve done for us for age grous or international sides

Lochhead > Hogg > Rowe for me but the gap between them is all quite small.

I still think Lochhead is the best option though.

I think Lochead is a little more sound defensively, where as Hogg's pace allows him to recover quite well.

Hogg does however, pose more of a threat going forward and seems more aggressive on attack. I have not seen enough of Rowe to have any opinion on him really.

I don't want the nix to sign him, not because i don't think he can cut it, but more because i want to see NZ players playing and not warming the bench.

Having NZ's two best keepers etc playing for the same club??? One plays one always watching doesn't give match practice which is essential for development and maintaining form, why repeat it with our two left backs??

Fair comment - I'd like to see Hogg playing every week professionally

Hardly great news for Hoggy, but fairly predictable.

I just hope Ian Hogg gets the opportunity to prove to you Nix fans that he's worth keeping. It has been a difficult transition for him coming off a non-playing period straight into a struggling A League side but he's a player for the future. His pace and attacking instincts will serve you well while he finds his feet as a defender in a higher level than the ASBP.

I do believe he has the ability. I just hope Ricki will give him the opportunity to develop.

I love the way you two act like no one here has ever seen him play before.  Impressively patronising, but not surprising.

There is an NZ football league?
Tell me more of this wonderous notion your speak of. Does it get lots of TV time? Is it good quality? Whats the players wages like? Is it an even league?

The way I hear it, it's the best thing ever and should be made fully professional.

I also hear that the Phoenix are stealing all it's money and the TV coverage that NZ National Leagues have had for the last 30 years.

Oh right! I would be intrigued to find out the big names in the league. Young local exciting players all home grown?

Rumour has it TrueBlue recently left for California, possibly on an ACFC scouting mission for more Hispanics.

Scouting mission for overseas players? I thought this was a local league. Wont overseas players want to be paid and stuff?

 5. Thread domination. Do not try to bully someone into submission or disparage every comment they make, simply because their views may differ from your own. Write a coherent reply setting out your views and then let others have their say.

7. Respect other posters. You may not agee with a view but a reply just insulting someone does not foster debate and makes you look foolish.

9. Think before you post. Exactly that.

Finally, keep contributing and keep having a great time!!!

I appears to me that Trueblue made a perfectly reasonably point, stating his opinion before there was then a whole page of mocking and disparaging comments against his opinion and the ASB Premiership.

Check the rules and particularly the last comment.

I'm not surprised so many have left here who have different opinions from the mainstream.

Where is there a disparaging comment about his opinion?  Where is he insulted?

The majority of those posts are in response to how patronising he (and you) are as though you're the only ones who ever watched a domestic football player.

The last comment -

Finally, keep contributing and keep having a great time!!!

Just what we were doing.

I disagree. Trueblue gave a serious opinion and then a few of you took the piss without adding anything of value or substance.

There was nothing in his post suggesting that any of you haven't watched a domestic match.

You might be thinking of all the fapping that goes on around here (or as you Dorkland types might say, "masturbación").

LOL. Actually this Dorklander is presently in Wellywood and will be in attendance at the Four Kings cheering on the Nix cum 7pm Sunday. And no, I won't be the one wearing the ACFC shirt!

So Hogg has one bad game and he's back on the bench, lochead has a bad season and he's starting again.

Permalink Permalink

Why don't we just drop all the players who have had a 'bad season' then? That would mean no Siggy, Muscat, Lia, Stein, Lochy or Ifill. Would fix everything.
