I am not surprised, with inflation at record low levels these days.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Article in the Roar today on the Nix..

http://www.theroar.com.au/2016/04/15/wellington-ph...

A number of posts have suggested the Nix move from the Cake Tin to Lower Hut...

Wondering aloud if that is possible re existing contracts and if you guys think it would work... Suggestion by some posters  is a full Lower Hut looks better than a third or less full cake tin on an oval ground.

The idea of a permanent shift to a smaller rectangular stadium is dead in the water. There's just no public support for building a new stadium in greater Wellington. Hutt Rec was great but it was only a temporary solution to the problem caused by the cricket world cup. Those games did show how much better a small ground would be though.

It's a shame, but I just can't see it happening any time soon.

Also highlights the perception of a mostly empty 35k stadium vs a mostly full 10k (sorta) stadium for viewers, even those that don't give the slightest of sharks about our club.

As much as the experience at Westpac has improved, nothing makes up for arses on seats (especially bright yellow ones).

Can someone price up 30000 inflatable aliens from AliExpress? They're probably only 5c each! #YFspendup

Alien

14 bucks a piece. So unless someone has a spare $420k lying around it may not be an option.

If Ben 10  would do then its only $23,460, so chump change really.

Shark article all up - can't get simple facts correct, like how many finals appearances, mentioning the Hutt Rec as a long term viable option and talking about signing a marquee striker - no mention that as it stands that player will need to be Australian/New Zealander or our investment in attacking stocks already. Also mentioning we need a CB and RB to go with Dura and Fenton suggests he thinks Fenton is a LB, but further up in the article talks how well Doyle has progressed. Comments are worse.

I swear half of all HAL fans in Aus think that Hutt Rec is actually a stadium.

Yeah it seems that way.

Maybe if the FFA had given us a 20 year licence like every other club then the business case for a purpose built stadium might have stacked up

But we would hve enough hot air blowing out of the NIMBY Brigade to inflate it!

In my dreams a small rectangular stadium seating 12k in Lower Hutt. That would be fantastic for any of the three main codes. The pub across the road would not be complaining either. Fudge the nimbys, their stupid park still sits there empty with a condemned stand. Small minded wankers.

Ridiculous. My green friend "Jonathan" has been suggesting the same thing back home for years. Whenever we go to a game at the 952,000 seat stadium on his home planet of Kremus Krispeeartus, & he uses me as the inflatable, we just get moaned at by the cods behind us

We're the WELLINGTON Phoenix

And this is our Home

RE stadium, it's a shame the proposed refurbishing of the concourse and greater Westpac stadium area includes an arena for concerts etc which from memory would be perfect for us as it can hold 15-20k people, but obviously will be covered.

I do like the idea of doing something silly for the last game in Wellington each season. Just for something fun at the end of what is usually a tough season. The conga line worked well in that regard (although that was more spur of the moment)
