I want to say he is the Valderrama I've always wanted, but we're not quite there yet.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

He has a cool name and a cool fro. We should keep him.

He's on the right track, but I feel we may need to splash out on a marquee Hair stylist.

 SuPeRb!!!

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

I think he'd be worth the gamble of a decent contract. His running off the ball was good and that stopped a lot of the gaps developing that we have seen a lot of this season. He just needs someone to think quickly to be partnering him in midfield. he tried a few things on Saturday that others were either too lazy to move to or didn't have the skill to read it. Thus far he's done well. Whether he maintains it will only show in the next few games.

Cautiously optimistic here. He does quite a bit off the ball to me. Relies on his fitness, pace and work rate compared to Dani who has a better passing game and vision.

Watching the Perth game live I had heart in mouth when he tried to take on 3 on half way, but he got it to Lia, Iffy, etc. Rest is history.

I would give him a go for next year. We have plenty of room in the squad and being Aussie we can ditch an import if we like (Totori - hasn't worked out for me).

This. Can he do it against quality teams? That'll be the yard stick. Perth and Noocastle don't exactly do it for me in terms of quality.

My judgement is reservified. His ability and fitness have never been questioned... it's his consistency and commitment that have been. We know he can play - he has to prove to Ricki he wants to, week in week out.

Piney reckons he's signed for Perth. Doing the full Nicky Ward.

Hope he doesn't lose motivation to play for us now. After he signed with the Victory, his performances for the fury weren't flash but to be fair, he was returning from injury then.

The strange bit for me is that the Glory released Makarounas to go to the Victory. If they were interested in Cernak for next season, why didn't they just trade for him? Maybe they signed him on the back of his performance last weekend.

I think before anyone gets emotional about it, it is possible he may well have been negotiating before he came here. Its possible we may not have put a pitch into him or we decided to wait until the end of the season to see how he went before making in an offer. If its the latter then you can't deny the guy the chance to want to secure he future.

no problem with him securing his future, I have an issue with us signing a player as a short term fix to a long term problem.

So you think 'stuff it for this season, let the problem persist' ? Hmmmm.
I would not surprise me reading this unfold if we were just being used as a 3 month pay cheque for him... Getting paid at Melbourne but not getting a show. Needs to get game time to show his wares for his next contract/next season so gets out and finds a team that will pay him and play him.

Do you endorse the signing of Hogg? According to many on here, Lochhead is a long term problem.

Maybe - but David Dome said on one of your podcasts that they had discussed his name, but Ricki didnt want to progress it any further. So unless they knew Keat didnt want to play in the A-League, they have dismissed him as an option...

yep, Hoggs signing is clearly a trial with potential for longer. Cernak's signing appeared that it was similar but if he was heading to Perth prior to us taking him on board then us bringing him on board makes no sense to me. Why should we be the ones that get him gametime before next season, all GM's talk at the moment is long term future of the club etc, this signing simply stops Boyd, Fenton or Sanchez getting a start.

Ok so based on what you have written, if Hogg has a gig for next season, its a dumb signing?
Wow.

dumb? maybe not, shortsighted and against the public aim of the club - ie future planning etc, short term signing is like a band aid over a gaping wound. Cernak solves a problem now, not long term and in the process he stops a player like Sanchez or Fenton or boyd who are committed to the team actaully getting decent game time. Hogg's signing would be the same if he was going somewhere else next season - of very little value. However as Hogg is here fopr what is claerly a 3 month trial - with apparently nothing else on his radar - he fits ideally into the future planning on the team.

Agreed - what was it that Mr Morgan said about fans who only care about the league table and not the club's long-term plan? I assume the owners have to sign off player signings? How do you justify this in that context? (I personally don't mind but that's because I'm pathetic and unsophisticated and want us to make the playoffs this year)

I remember when he was signed Ricky said something like: "I think he's a great player, have liked him for ages, Melbourne was good enough to release him so that he could get game time, he is playing for a contract next year"

Seems to me that we signed him as a short term trial.

Next step is to prove that 100 minutes against Perth and Newcastles sides that would struggle in the ASB Prem isn't all he's got.

He's shown some potential, now lets see some consistancey. Wouldn't be the first time one has impressed, got a contract and has/is failing. Smith for example, also Elrich & Ward spring to my mind.

Ermm... since we were in a neck-and-neck tussle in both those games, are you saying that the current Nix would struggle in the ASBPrem? OH MY GOD ALIREGGAE WAS RIGHT
