I was in Brisbane for V1 and Brownlee was a great striker, if we get him we will be doing well.

Brownlie would be good. For Queensland he didnt score much but his fairly productive and his records in Europe have been pretty good.

All good.  The more Brazilians the better.  Whilst Campos isn't the same standard as Daniel, he'll have the basic skill-set to move the team forward, I'm still trying to find out if it's a case of Nix offering more than Victory, or Victory pulling out - either way he'll be relatively cheap (which has to be good).

I know of a couple of strikers named Alex - if it's the one I think it is, he's pretty useful and likes to slip off the last defender and will shoot first time with either foot.  Again, not phenomenal, but will thrive on good service.

From the 442 rumour Mill - I don't put a heap of stock in it but Lunatic ofSydney knows someone because most of what he's posted so far has happened.

Yeah some of the stuff on there is fanciful at best but that Lunatic seems to have a good angle.  I think these players sound pretty realistic and while not going to set the world on fire they'll up the skill quotient of the side which is important considering that there are some pretty average defenders going round this league.

Agree about Brownlie, from what I remember he could be very useful.

Wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about Alex and whether Victory are still chasing Campos or not.
If they have pulled out would that possibly be they do not feel he is up to standard?

Sign Brazilians in the wide/attacking positions, sign Aussies/New Zealanders in the defensive positions.  I think the best defensive player in the comp last season was Roddy Vargas - picked up from the local leagues.  In this league you need solid and simple at the back - put the foot through the ball and get it to where your flair players can do damage.

Campos has agreed and will sign a one ( 1 ) year deal on Tuesday or Wednesday at the very latest.

Alex is currently with Greek second division side Levediakos. Alex was originally signed when Levediakos was in the Greek first division and the Club did not want to release him when they got relegated.

Alex has also played in Korea and Hungary where he is again being chased from.

Alex is not your typical Brazilizn, but rather a target man.

South Melbourne winger Trent Waterson has also been offered trials with the Nix.

The lad is the new Travis Dodd and at 22 years of age is a superb athlete with fantastic speed.

Ernie Merrick is also after him but lad has been convinced by his agent that Ricki would be better for his career.

In defence Ricki is looking former Scottish defender Stuart McCluskey ( who is at Richmond - Victoria ) and former Sydney Olympic FC championship winner Damon Collina

Stuart McCluskey is a good organiser who the season before the last Scottish season played in the Scottish FA Cup Final.Actually played with Roars' Lynch and are good mates.

Great lad, good pro and good organiser who would be ideal for young defenders Old and O'dor who are both only 20 years of age. He is only 29 years of age.

Collina is a player that has won Championships and at 27 and 6'3 is monster defender.

Collina averages 4 or 5 goals a season from set pieces. Currently at Club Marconi after being a year out.

Damon Collina is an Australian lad that was brought To Sydney seven years ago by then Sydney Olympic's coach Branko Cullina.

The lad was then a up - coming centre forward but Branko Cullina  converted him to a tough tackling centreback and the lad was playing centre back of ther Sydney Olympic Championship team ahead of then young Jade North.

Was also part of the Sydney Olympic team that included North, Koehler ( both Newcastle ) Lindsay Wilson ( PSV ) Brett Emerton and Jason Cullina, Nicky Carle, Ante Millicic,Tommy Ponteljak and Troy Halpin to name a few.

Would be as successful as Vargas.

You all know that Melbourne Victory's Vargas and Pantelidis were offered contracts tp join the Nix but because the FFA stuffed around and delayed the Nix inclusions the lads panicked and signed with Victory.

Cheers Napier,

We probably need to sign Alex, Collina and McCluskey fairly quickly as a Hungarian first division Club is after Alex and newly appointed Adelaide United assistant coach Phil Stubbins wants to get both Mc Cluskey and Collina to Adelaide United.

An offer will also be put to Perth Glory defender Jamie Harnwell who is not wanted by Perth coach Ron Smith but the lad has an offer to trial in Europe and if successful will be offered $10,000 US dollars nett per month.

Besides Hanwell who has one more year on his Perth contract would demand the minimium $100,000 he is currently on at Perth while McCluskey and Collina would collectively cost $150,000AUD

I would be happy if it were Alex from PSV Eindhoven, sadly 1.75m tall not 1.86

lunatic, any idea on what the agents take is on these contracts ?

Just I would have thought the rumour mill and things like that would be an easy way to manipulate a market...

...be easy to make up a story about how another club are interested in a player to push up the value, or claim they have a much higher offer from somewhere else.

Your thoughts ?

For example, Australian Rugby always seems to be "interested" whenever a leaguie is renegotiating his contract...

As I understand it, that's exactly what was happening with Campos.  Melbourne were interested, but not actively trying to nick the player from under Nix's nose - but the agent was putting pressure on both clubs by talking up the rumour.
