Perth play on Saturday night, so we will know exactly what we need to do to win on Sunday. It'll either be we need just a point, need a win, or need a win by 2 or more goals.

Gold Coast could actually get off the bottom of the table next week. Incredible.
They just have to beat Brisbane of course!

Actually, a GCU win next week would be good. Do they play before us? COuld leave Mariners already champions and not giving a sh*t about us.
Sickens me to say it, but C'mon yooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Tards.

Strong resullt for us....
Everything seems to be falling in to place for 3rd - If we want it bad enough come Sunday!
So will Dean Heffernan have to miss next weeks match against Victory, with that dubious red card?

Makes Phoenix's 2-0 win over GCU on March 4 look pretty good. That's the only game GCU have lost in the last five. They've certainly had an impact on the final shape of the table.

GCU's recent performances puts the 2-0 win we got over them in perspective. Many people were saying we should have won by a lot more because they underestimated this talented youthful GCU side.

No, they've got the last Sunday game - they'll know the CCM result by the time they play.

From memory the Knights in the same spot did as well.
Guess we'd just better win on unday then. Might have to unload the mortgage on Perth at the TAB. That should screw them. Is Burns back anytime soon?

Fri - Heart at Adelaide - Heart must avoid a loss by 8 goals to guarantee place in top 6
Sat - Victory at Perth - Go Tards
Sun - Central Coast at Phoenix
Sun - Newcastle at Sydney - Winner is in, a draw good enough for Newcastle
Sun - Brisbane at GCU

My guess is that they'll roll Burns out in a wheelchair if necessary, especially if Heffernan is suspended. Burns escaped broken ribs unfortunately, so I can't see how a bit of bruising will keep him off the park much longer.
More or less expecting the Tards to revert to their sh*t ways and get overrun.

If Perth draw 0-0 with MV and Phoenix draw 3-3 with CCM next week, Perth and Phoenix would be level on points, GD and goals scored, meaning the seperator would be the head-to-points which would give PG the edge by virtue of Josh Mitchell's last minute goal in Perth's 1-0 win on that awful day in early January.
If he hadn't scored that goal and that match had ended 0-0, they'd have been equal on head-to-head points and head-to-head goal difference, meaning least red cards would be the seperator. Phoenix have four and Heffernan's today was Perth's fourth.
So then it'd be least yellows - Phoenix have 49, and Perth moved today from 49 to 51.
This is all hypothetical of course, because I can't see Phoenix and CCM drawing 3-3.

Also, if they hadn't scored that late goal they would be three points behind us on the table, meaning all the rest of the separators would be rendered useless.
However, I've always wondered how likely it would be to need to go right down to a coin toss to decide who takes the higher place, seems like it could be more likely than I thought.

Or lose by one less than them, just to cover the options.

In an ideal world he plays. Then in the first five minutes he goes right through Kewell who petulantly as he goes down leads with his elbows, breaking Burns' ribs while his own knees are ruined. So both badly injured AND red carded.
I may actually explode with joy.

If we'd won all our games at home like we should have, instead of losing 4 we'd be at the top of the table and not needing to worry about what the other teams are doing.
Having said that, it's an exciting end to the regular season.

Victory beating Perth 3-0 would go down very well with me.
Could find ourselves in the strange situation where we cheer and go nuts at the final whistle when we had just lost by one goal.

It's that one loss against Perth on 8 Jan that really grates. We were so bad. If we'd won that game we'd be on 43 points right now and they'd be on 37. Even the draw would have had us on 41 points and them on 38. It still makes me angry just thinking about it.

That to me was the most disappointing part of the season, Perth had never won at Westpac it ... should have stayed that way.

Just checking
The advantage of us finishing 3rd compared to 4th:
If we win our prelim semi final, and Perth win theirs, we would then play Perth at our home
If we win our prelim semi final and Perth lose theirs to Syd/Jets/Heart, we play Syd/Jet/Heart at our home
If we lose, we are out
Correct ?
