Funny that people are slagging off Ian Ferguson pretty readily on here but his team are now 4 points ahead of ours...

Agree-and Sydney are into 3rd at the moment.

Still just two points off 6th and have played well enough in a couple of games that we should be 3 pts better off at this stage.  Which would have us 5th, in spite of all the injury, recruitment and limited back-ofice support this season.  Not 5th, but not far away.
Keep in touch with the top 6 thru xmas (pray) and then also hope like heck Welnix and Ricki have a decent striker signing planned in the window.

But still too much up the wings and hopeful cross into the box today.  Would be fine if we had a tall strong striker.  Which is why I would prefer to see Pav to Greenacre, 4cm in that.
Get Sanchez and Ifill both on (with Ifill still fresh, not Sanchez at 80mins when Ifill's contribution has tapered off a bit) and the game changes.

COYN.

Gold Coast gifted Perth the game last night with the stupid penalties they gave away.

Interesting to note that while the top two are the same as last year's top two, the remaining teams have all swapped. The four remaining teams that made the playoffs last year are all outside of the playoffs and the four that didn't are in.

Very interesting.

Adelaide severely underperforming with the squad they have.

For the first time all year (not season, year), SiNZ's excel spreadsheet is predicting that CCM will finish top of the table, not the Roar. Interesting.

That happens every year. The A-League is very unpredictable.

Three for me, and two for them.

3rd best defence in the A-League...2nd = worst attack.

kind of sums up Rickies coaching style. Brillant defensive coach....but on attack??????

We have only been kept scoreless on two occasions...

I had a quick look at the Phoenix website and for each match you can see stats for the match or for the season for both teams. Using this data I added up total shots (an indication of attacking intent?) and the 'Nix have had 92 shots, 2nd lowest (Victory the lowest), while GCU have had the most, 139 shots and 12 more than Roar.

Though, if we have a good game this weekend we could overtake a few teams that have averaged less than 1 shot more per game than us.

Crikey.  Tards could jump to 3rd place if they win tonight.

How does a tossbag team like Heart get to be 3rd? .....back to back wins. If the Roar had done what they should have and won 3-0 then we would be 6th. Just shows how tight the table is...5 points seperating 3rd from 8th.

By the same token, had we won last week, we would be 3rd and trust me, we are not a '3rd place in the table' team yet. Boro hit the nail on the head, points are critical right now rather than places until the table thins out a bit more.
