Season 09/10:

Thanks Patrick, that's awesome. 09/10 is the one I'm really interested in.
I've actually realised that Round 18 would be a better comparison but no matter, I can tell you what happened.
In Round 18 of 09/10 Brisbane and us lost, and NQF and Adelaide won. Ahead of us the Jets won and CCM and Perth lost.
What that meant was that although we stayed in 7th place on the table on 21 pts, NQF also had 21 and Brisbane and Adelaide had 20pts. Ahead of us the Jets were on 25, CCM on 24 and Perth on 23. In other words, it was a real dog-fight with the bottom 6 teams separated by only 5 pts.
Back to this season, if we beat the Jets this week we will be in almost the same position. The Jets will stay on 21 pts. The Heart are away to WSW and could easily stay on 21/22 pts. Sydney are away to the Victory and could easily stay on 20/21 pts. Perth and Brisbane play each other. At the end of Round 18 it's quite possible that the bottom six will all be on between 19-22 pts. That's even closer than in 09/10!
The bottom line is that we are still right in this. In fact, the last thing we should do is throw in the towel on this season. If last week provides the catalyst for a mini-revival then the play-offs are still a real possibility.
