Newcastlol Jest season stats:

Least goals scored (21)
2nd most goals conceded (39)
Least wins (4)
Equal most losses (11)
Worst goal diff (-18)

And best of all, as Stevo pointed out in the Jest Sydney match fred:

Less points gained than the Knights V2.

That should cheer you up LG and any others depressed about 6th instead of 5th.

Three for me, and two for them.

Whilst im happy enough with finishing 6th, I can't help wondering what would have been. If we'd dealt with Perth better and beaten them all season as we had done to Sydney we'd be sitting on 32 points and in 4th spot. 9 wins 5 draws and 7 losses.

It should be noted that we have won the same amount of games as 4th.

Indeed, with a final standing of 6th one can only lament what could have been.  The biggest issue now though is how to replace Smeltz, because if we can do that then we should have a great season next year... in proper shirts.

5th or 6th - really doesn't matter.

What does stick out on the table, like the proverbials, is the gap between the top 3 teams and the pack - 10 /12 points i.e. 4 wins. That is significant in a 21 round competition with a salary cap and is a credit to the management of the Reds, Roar and Victory.

If we want to be competitive with these teams next season the acid test, for me, in re-signing existing players or signing new players is would they be competitive with players in the same positions in the top 3 teams.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

IMO  we were 10 goals short...23 is the second worse. Top teams all scored in the 30's. We blew out in 2 games and conceded 10 goals. Without those 2 games our D look's OK.

With 10 teams next season is that 3 rounds of 9 = 27 games? Whoah!! Great if that is true. Thats 6 more rounds, three more home games. i guess the seaon will start 6 weeks earlier . Does anyone know first match kickoff date(roughly) or preseason games?....getting withdrawl symptoms already

Same as last year, they are hardly likely to have a draw out before the current season finishes.  Still a month to go.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Cool. Now if you can just arrange for us not to have a home fixture on either 12 or 13 September, I won't have to choose between running the Dunedin Marathon and giving up my 100% attendance record. Oh and ditto 31 Oct/1 Nov with the Auckland Marathon.

Hmm lets see. Running any matter of distance, let alone a marathon vs Getting pissed in the Fever Zone watching the Nix.

Hard, hard choice.

Three for me, and two for them.

I know, I need help. So far, none of my marathons have clashed with Nix home games. I did consider adding Dunedin last year, but I hadn't specifically trained for it (was concentrating on Auckland) and we were playing at home that afternoon.
