Stink for him... good chance for someone to step up into his position though...

If he got it Sunday that would explain why he kept getting turned inside out.

suppose we'll have to find injury replacement for him. Not sure what nix players can fill in at LB, perhaps Moosecat will have to drop in at LB and have Lia back in the squad at DM. As for the All Whites, I predict some Mulligan.

report says that the phoenix are not looking for an injury replacement player but that they would use an existing squad player....maybe play with three centrebacks? and use wingbacks?

And drag Bertos even further back? No point.

crap! muscat to left back would be the most obvious if we play 4 at the back...if ricki stays with three at the back then there's no need for a replacement. theprof2010-09-22 12:40:29

Its not a good point if you throw bertos into the mix byt Rikki has said that he would entertain using the same system as the all whited...although that doesnt an automatic starting spot for bertos

Get Daniel to play left back? :P

I can see a 3-4-3 setup, or Manny being LB and Lia back on the park in DM.

i dont think it says the phoenix arent looking for a replacement, i understood that they meant they wont add another for the AWs game.

Think this is a good oppourtunity to have a look at some nzfc leftbacks as injury cover? or get someone from overseas in to have a go. if we are ambitious, we could find someone better than lochhead and sign him up?

Because it's really that easy.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I'd hate to know what Leggy was doing then.

If we're looking for a replacement, three words: The right Sukha.

I meant the "sign him up" part!

Lia played left back in last night's training match vs Team Wellington.

Fuck this stupid game

and howd lia look there?

well it wouldnt be too hard to look at the best LB players around NZ and aus under the a-league and see if anyone was worth looking at, then its just a matter of asking them if they want a go, pretty sure most would jump at the chance even as injury replacement

Lochhead out is the best news this year.

Ifill gone is bad news, although it will give Daniel a chance to shine and put pressue on Leo for when Ifill returns

Queenslander 3x a year.

I think Ifill gone could be a little good. I think he needs a break. He hasn't looked much better than anyone else on the park. It is just those little magic moments that set him apart, like the goal vs CCM.

And we always seem to get injuries at funnily enough, convenient times. Lochhead when he is playing sh*t and RH wants to go to 3-4-3. Then Ifill, when, as good as he is, looks as though he needs a spell. Lia when we sign Ward, so RH doesn't have to 'drop' Lia as such. Paston so Vukovic can play, once again, doesn't have to 'drop' Paston. Then last season McKain's injury dragged on because at the time there was no real spot he could come back into. I'm no conspiracy theorist guy but yeah. Just food for thought tehe.

Also, Ian Hogg as cover? simon_hampton2010-09-22 16:01:24

Poor bugger, anyway best thing that could've happened in a way, that's the only position we're light on in terms of cover. He should be fighting with someone for that spot imo and he hasn't had too since day one, some of performances show that too i reckon first season he was great then a slow decline

Lochhead is poor, but there is nobody capable of adequately filling in for him in the entire squad IMO.

Bugger. The people celebrating that he's injured, shame on you.

Once again, our non existent depth will be exposed and people will realise how big a part Lochy plays.

Very bad news to be honest.

Get better soon Lochy!

Siggy, North and Durante as a back 3? Or what about Musa? Can he play in LB?

Bring in Hogg as injury cover. Fingers crossed we get to see some Musa!

Sigmund Durante North - that's a mighty back three!

And the transfer speculation, and the team speculation and the coaching speculation and the tactic speculation and all types of speculation apart from the speculation that you should be banned.

surely hearfield can't be any worse. both useless at defending, but hearfield good going forward, lochhead not

I dunno if it's just a funny coincidence but isn't it odd that his injury is to a muscle used largely for sideways movement which is something he really struggles with?

Edit. It's actually his second separate groin injury in a year or so. TopLeft072010-09-22 19:50:24

If anyone watched 3 News tonight and saw the interview with Lochhead on there, he mentioned that he got the injury at the World Cup in the last game against Paraguay. He also said it had affected his speed and crossing ability.

It said Manny will go to left back and Vinnie will come into the team so no 3-4-3

As a matter of fact I have never wished anyone an injury.
Lochy may not have been my favourite player but I would never wish any harm to him.
In fact if you had noticed I have not mentioned him this season. Although not great he has not been as bad as some games last season.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Yes, why anyone would take pleasure in one of our players getting injured is beyond me. Hope Lochy gets better soon.

We all have our favourite and not so favourite players but sad to think any Nix supporter would take any pleasure out of one of our players getting injured - comments to that effect I suspect are a rush of blood to young heads.

Injuries do obviously force changes so I'm looking forward to seeing someone else step in to the LB position and, hopefully, play a blinder.

I have a feeling Ifill has been carrying an injury for a while as well - he hasn't looked himself so far this season and probably needs a couple of weeks off - hopefully he can make it through to the international window - even when he is not up to his normal very high standard he is still capable of match winning moments of brilliance.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

We did originally sign Muscat as a LB, to replace Lochhead who was expected to sign for Middlesborough. Fully confident he will be a more than adequate replacement.
