Rojas a HT sub (score 0-0). Colo Colo had made 4 subs by HT (2 in the 1st half)
Finishes 1-1, and Colo Colo are knocked out of the cup 2-3 on aggregate.

Still looking good to win the league. 9 pts clear with 8 games left.

Rojas on the bench. Colo Colo currently 3-0 up.

Edit - Rojas subbed on at 83 mins (4-0) in a 4-0 win. Colo Colo were down to 10 men from 68 mins (4-0)

They (51 pts) are now 12 pts clear in first with 6 games to go. Though Curicó Unido (39 pts) & Ñublense (3rd also 39 pts) do both have a game in hand.

think we've seen the last of Rojas in a white shirt, unless Hay's replacement see something in him that Hay doesn't

Which you'd think there's a pretty good chance of.

Also, who's to say Rojas wouldn't have got on in the qualifier if Danny hadn't (allegedly) given him COVID?

Kind of thing would have been handy in a World Cup playoff.

he does it week in week out for his club, but for mine he's never really set the world alight against international opposition.

That’s the least passionate commentary I think I’ve ever heard from a South American game

Sure, but in the world cup qualifiers he would have been a point of difference for the AWs and was pretty badly missed.

Tomorrow Colo Colo (1st) host Curicó Unido (2nd).

Colo Colo are currently 9 points of Curicó Unido with 4 games left. So Colo Colo win tomorrow, and they clinch the title with 3 games remaining.

So could be a big party for Rojas & Co in their Santiago barrio manana.

Unfortunately the home party is delayed 1 week.

Was a 1-1 draw, so mathematically 2nd placed Curicó Unido (9 pts behind & GD +19), could still overtake Colo Colo (GD +33) on GD to win the league, with 3 games left. Of course that requires them to win their 3 remaining games by big margins, and Colo Colo to lose all 3 games. Ain't gonna happen.

Rojas was a 75th min sub (1-1).

Colo Colo play away next week to bottom side Coquimbo Unido

Colo Colo (1st) travel to Coquimbo Unido (last).

Colo Colo (3 games left, 56 pts & GD +33) are basically champions in waiting. Only 3rd placed Curicó Unido (3 games left, 47 pts & GD +19) can catch them.

But yes win or draw tomorrow and Colo Colo are officially champions.

Came off at 59 mins (1-0) as Colo Colo win 2-0 to be confirmed as league champions. Nice moment for the Rojas family no doubt

Pretty good day out for Marco Rojas.

1st goal for his new club and his 3rd assist for the season.

I love South American commentators by the way.

61 mins in a 1-1 draw. Got the assist for Colo Colo's goal.

Season over. Rojas will be well pleased with his first (half) season in Chile, and be looking to lock in a starter's spot next year.

Edit - Looks like Colo Colo are hosting River Plate & Real Betis for some friendlies during the big danace in Qatar. Chileans still stinging for failing to make consecutive World Cups (2018 & 2022)

Game ended up a crazy 4-3 to the greatest ever, Club Atlético River Plate. Both side playing their first team and certainly wanted to win. Unfortunately, Rojas really struggled.. the difference between the Chilean clubs and teams like River Plate is huge

A 3-4 loss for Colo Colo.

Rojas came off at 61 mins (3-4), just prior to Colo Colo going down to 10 men.

River were 3rd in Argy league. Arch rivals Boca Juniors top.
Though if league is a full 2 rounds (is 28 teams) then it is only at half way point (ie 27 rounds played)!

Did a tour of River's stadium a few years back in BA. Impressive.

Was a few weeks before they lost Copa Libertadores final in Lima, Peru in a heartbreak late loss. I arrived in Lima just before.

Hundreds of River fans moping around Lima for a few days after as the game had been moved from Chile to Peru at the last minute, and fans had struggled to rebook plane tickets there & home.

It’s a massive institution and a very powerful one.. they say if you want to be the President of Argentina try to be the President of River Plate first… the club motto is “every day a bigger club”. It had a few rough years but things are very good at the moment, mainly thanks to the master coach, Marcelo “the Doll” Gallardo.

That was a fairly quick off season wasn't it? First full season in Chile..let's hope he can find some good form and become an established member of the starting XI and pick up some more silverware...no pressure there, Mr Kiwi Messi 😄😁

the big thing for colo colo is the Copa Libertadores, which they will be desperate to get out of the group stage for.. Chilean clubs dont do well in that tournament so even making it to the next stage makes it a good achievement. It starts in March but the groups havent been announced yet

No Rojas in match day squad. He did come off at HT last week so likely he’s injured

Edit - Colo Colo with a 5-1 win
